Bijou, Woonsocket, R. I. September 13, 1909. Matinee. Weather, warm. Business, fair. OVERTURE. REEL NO. 1 Time, 16 minutes. REEL NO. 2. Time 14 minutes. FISHER & VOKES. Went bad. Two men in a conversational act. No singing, no dancing. Line of talk not particularly interesting and is poorly handled. Did not go at all and went off without a hand. In one. Time 13 minutes. KEENE. Went bad. This man is an alleged comedy juggler. Got his laughs from his unsuccessful attempts to handle his stuff. The act attempts to show a Hebrew fruit peddler with wagon, etc., but is poorly put together Full stage. Time 10 minutes. GILROY & MANSFIELD. Went well. Lady and gentleman in talking, singing and dancing. Act well dressed, the lady making a change and wearing two gowns that make the ladies sit up and take notice. Dialogue is excellent and full of pith and point and is well handled. Man's song is immense and the whole act commdnded attention. In one. Time 16 minutes. MANTILLA. Went well. "The Girl With the Mask." The name fits the act. Well dressed. Does three dances, a Spanish, a posing and what is called the "Grecian Worship," a series of contortionistic poses that keep the spectator interested. Went very well with matinee audience. Mask-wearing causes talk. Full stage. Time 10 minutes. SWAN & O'DAY. Went big. Two men in blackface. Funny line of talk, and good dancing. Audience in a gale at the finish of the talk. Big laughing hit. In one. Time 14 minutes. ADONIS & HIS DOG. Went big. A clever hand balancer and acrobat with a finely trained dog. Apparatus neat and in good shape, well dressed.
