Boston show week November 29, 09. R. G. Larsen (Monday afternoon show) Overture. On at 1:43, 14 min. 3 Donals. On at 1:59, 9 min. full stage. These men have good appearance and some of the feats they do on the rings and in lifting are really great, but the act went slow this afternoon and failed to arouse enthusiasm as one might expect from it. Browning and Lavan. On at 2:08, 11 min. in 1. This team in a sketch "The Recruiting Officer," which according to reports has been doing well everywhere during the season, fell down badly here this afternoon, but it seemed to go on beaten from the start and failed to arouse any enthusiasm and had a quiet finish. Went much better to-night. Benjamin Chapin in "At the White House." On at 2:19, 34 min. full stage. This act is not in anything like the shape it was in when it played Boston two seasons ago. The supporting company is not nearly so strong and Mr Chapin's work seemed to lack the earnestness and forcefulness of that time. His explanation is that he has not been working for several weeks but whatever the reason it failed to arouse great interest and all the curtains on the tableaux were forced. THis, with the preceding act, sort of put a crimp in the show at the start. Doherty and Harlowe. On at 2:53, 7 min. in 1. This team, which made quite a hit here a few Sunday nights ago, had a hard spot to-day and they got away with it in fair shape although the act was hardly strong enough to lift the lump in this bill. Will Rogers. On at 3:10, 10 min. full stage. Rogers held the interest in very good shape this afternoon and his talk livened up matters a bit and got quite a few laughs. - 2 - Albert Chevalier. On at 3:20, 29 min. in 1. Chevalier has changed a number of his songs this week, introducing two new ones, "The Little Nipper" and a French burlesque. The latter is in decided contrast to anything he has previously done during this engagement and was very well received. Beatrice Ingram. On at 3:49, 19 minutes full stage. Her sketch called "The Duchess" is one of the best comedy hits of the kind we have played in a long time. Lillian Shaw. On at 4:08, 16 min. in 1. Miss shaw has discarded her eccentric make up and makes several changes. Most of her stuff this afternoon was new and all of it was good. She held down this spot in good shape. Tasmanian Van
