64 C. E. BARNS PHILADELPHIA SHOW DEC. 20 09 [1909] LAVINE-CIMARON TRIO. 12 min. F.S. This act is well known on the circuit and makes a very good opener. Is considerably improved. Held the interest throughout and closed well. ROCAMORA. 12 min. in one. Has a pretty manner and a good voice. Well received. San four selections, the latter being quite dramatic. Closed very well. BEATRICE INGRAM & CO. "The Duchess." 19 min. F.S. This is a typical sketch of department store life which has been described before. Miss Ingram's work is clever as "The Duchess," and her support is all that could be desired. Held the interest throughout and closed well. BOWMAN BROS. 15 min. in one. These boys start with one blackface comedian, one working straight. Afterwards the straight man blacks up in view of the audience after singing a very good song. Line of talk is lively. Comedian makes a change of costume in a sheath gown and his partner also makes a change. Good comedy finish. A good act for the spot where it was placed. Closed well. "SLIVERS." 22 min. F.S. This man is immense for a holiday week, and no mistake. Gave the same act that he offered here before, only much improved in comedy. This is a great "fan" town, and the act held the interest of the audience. Closed strong. AMY BUTLER & CO. 15 min. in one. Miss Butler is a clever soubrette, very vivacious and pretty, with a strong well-trained voice. Her character songs are all good and new. The four boys who assist her are fairly good vocalists. Finished the act with vivacity and closed strong. CHEVALIER, 31 min. in 1 1/2. This man proved himself a consummate artist right from the start. Received a strong advance hand. His "Fallen Star" is a genuine classic and his imitators have only shown how far superior he is to all initiation. Each one of the characters was concrete and distinct from the others, as if it were another actor who was impersonating him. His rendition of "My Old Dutch" is worth going a long ways to enjoy. Big closing hand. HEIM CHILDREN. 18 min. in one. These little people were seen here before and thoroughly enjoyed. They both are talented and held a hard spot very cleverly. WORMWOOD'S ANIMALS. 20 min. F.S. Same act as offered here with some variations and improvements. A great children's act for a holiday week. Plenty of fun and laughter. Strong close after their bicycle-riding finish. KINETOGRAPH. "The Night Before Christmas." This is a special film that we had for the children to precede the Santa Claus feature of the big tree and the distribution of presents. It was an excellent childrens' series. GENERAL REMARKS. An immense holiday bill. Everybody is thoroughly pleased by it. Chevalier will certainly draw money to the house, and as for the childrens' attractions, they are all that could be desired for Christmas jubilee week.
