105. Boston show week Jan 24, '10. R. G. Larsen (Monday afternoon) Overture. 11 minutes. Christy and Willis. 11 minutes f.s. This is a very good opening act, the comedy being the biggest part of it. Went very well this afternoon. Billy Van. 11 minutes in 1. Billy Van was considerable of a disappointment this afternoon. He got the audience occasionally but failed to make any impression and didn't do his usual time. Wormwood's Monkeys. 20 minutes f.s. This well known act started things going first rate, but had to buck up against our cold Monday audience. Barry and Wolford. 18 minutes in 1. Held the spot very well. Loie Fuller's Ballet of Light. 17 minutes f.s. This feature is proving one of the biggest we have ever had at the house. Records for the house since the two-a-day began were broken last week and there is a big advance on for this week. Completely sold out this afternoon with standing. The act is working much better at every performance and the light effects are making a strong impression. although the feature that draws the crowd is probably the barefooted dancers. Hawaiian Septette. 24 minutes in 3 with close in 1. These people fell down horribly here this afternoon and came near putting a crimp in the show. The redeeming feature of it was the mandolin playing, in fact, that was all that saved the act from a very bad fizzle. We cut it down to-night and put it up on the bill and it went big. Irene Franklin. 30 minutes f.s. A positive hit. The audience could not get enough of her. Andy Rice. 13 minutes in 1. Following Miss Franklin, Rico had an awful hard place but he got away with it in a very good shape. It is too bad that we cannot give him a better position on the bill and get all there is out of his act. This is another case of spoiling a bill through Miss Franklin not being able to do something in 1 to close. Casting Dunbars. 10 minutes f.s. One of the best acts we have with a corking clown. A splendid closing feature. Comment. With Miss Franklin and the Ballet of Light, this is a rather hard bill to handle as the ballet is such a strong feature that it is difficult to get something to follow it and we are having the same trouble with Miss. Franklin. However, it worked out fairly well this afternoon and we hope for better things tonight Cuts - Christy and Willis "business with plates, pacing them in the trousers and throwing them into audience." Andy Rice "motherinlaw joke." Barry and Wolford "lines about family of splinters." Hawaiian Septette "introductory speech."
