128 REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF FEBRUARY 7, 1910. Charles Lovenberg, Manager. This is a great comedy bill, and, while on paper it may seem talky, it is so diversified and so good that that fault is not apparent. From start to finish it was evidently enjoyed by today's big audience. JUGGLING DE LISLE This little fellow puts on a neat and clever, as well as fast, fast little juggling act, decidedly good value for the money and thoroughly good to open any bill in the world. 11 Min. Opens with special black drop in 1 1/2, closes with Olio in One. LAWRENCE & EDWARDS Two men in a comedy talking sketch, "The New Alderman". One man Irish, the other straight. The act is reminiscent in spots of Gallagher & Barrett and the Quigley Brothers. It is quite a good vehicle, well played. They have been doing it F. S. and are this week, but they tell me that they are having a special drop painted and hereafter will do it in One. In that way, it should be a real valuable act. 19 Min. F.S. ARTHUR RIGBY Blackface comedian who always scores excellently in this house. It is too bad, though, that he doesn't get some new material, for I am sure that if he had it, he would be mighty close in line with George Evans. 12 Min. in One IMRO FOX First time here for this well known magical comedian and he made a very strong impression. 23 Min. Open F. S. Close in One. TOM EDWARDS English ventriloquist, who scored his usual success. 23 Min, F. S. BARRY & WOLFORD Partially new act from last season and they went very well indeed. 18 Min. in Two, practically in One. MURPHY, NICHOLS & CO. In "The School of Acting". Had the audience in shrieks from start to finish. 26 Min. F. S. LILLIAN SHAW This was a pretty hard spot for Miss Shaw and at the salary she is receiving here this week I probably have no reason to complain at the way she was received. Still, the fact remains that she was by no means a riot, and were I paying the salary she is asking I would consider myself buncoed out of at least $200. she went very well and that is all there is to it. I can understand where she would be a bigger New York hit than in the other cities; in that case New York might pay her the big salary she is asking and let the other cities pay her what she is worth to them which is just what she is getting now. 18 Min. in One. ROBLEDILLO Unquestionably the greatest wire artist in the world. Got as much applause as any similar act that ever closed the show. 8 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O.K. Referring back to Miss Shaw, I am inclined to believe that her great hit in New York was probably due to having pluggers in the audience.
