BOSTON SHOW WEEK FEBRUARY 7, '10. R. G. Larsen OVERTURE. 8 minutes. EDMUND STANLEY AND CO. 21 min. f.s. It is too bad that we are obliged to sacrifice this splendid singing act in this spot, but the makeup of the bill made it compulsory. It made a strong opening number and would have done much better further down on the bill. DALE AND BOYLE. 12 min. in 1. this singing and dancing team made a good impression all through and when the man in woman's dress took off his wig the audience was taken completely by surprise. It is one of the best finishes we have had here in a long time. EL COTA. 17 minutes in 1. This xylophone player is an artist and went very well. COUNTESS DE PIERREFEU AND OLIE FULLER'S BALLET OF LIGHT. Countess de Pierrefeu is a local woman who made a hit in Boston society amateur shows years ago and is well known. She gave a performance of symbolic dances at one of the halls here a few weeks ago and made a favorable impression. We have taken 3 of her dances, the Blue Danube, the dagger dance, and the wind dance, and sandwiched them in with the Ballet of Light. The first 2 are done with handsome draperies and light effects and they went very big. The 3rd dance was done as a finish for the Ballet of Light with storm effects and made a very strong close. It is hardly fair to discuss the countess as a vaudeville proposition at this time, as we have taken advantage of her dances in connection with the ballet, but the present craze for barefoot dancing and the opportunities given for press work in connection with a title, and the fact that the Tudor family is known all over the country, should make her a consideration if she goes into it with the proper surroundings for a single act. With the ballet of light she will certainly draw business for us this week and if arrangements can be made we may continue both the Countess and the ballet for a fifth week. LEO CARRILLO. 15 minutes in 1. Following the ballet, a talking act had a rather hard spot but Carrillo got away with it in good shape, telling a lot of stories that were new to Boston and some of his Chinese impersonations, all of which went well. "AWAKE AT THE SWITCH." 26 minutes f.s. This act is played here for the first time and made a good impression. PRINGLE AND WHITING. 21 minutes in 1. This act also held a hard spot in good shape. But the language of Whiting when he came off was of such a character that he came within an ace of closing his engagement then and there. BYERS AND HERMANN. This is a very good act with acrobatics and rope walking with plenty of comedy. It has four transformations and is hardly an ideal closing act, but filled the place well. COMMENT. This is one of the heaviest bills we have had in a long time and certainly made a tremendous show. With 1 or 2 changes to-night it should go even better than it did this afternoon and that is saying a good deal. CUTS - Carrillo omit reference to mother in law and word hell. Awake at Switch - omit use of hell and damn and what the devil
