131 REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF FEB. 14, 1910 Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. The bill this week is probably as good as we have ever had in the house. Everything made good and some a little better than that. Though handicapped by the Ballet of Light appearing at Infantry Hall two performances last week and giving the worst kind of a show there and not being able to bill until the end of their engagement there, we managed by heroic efforts and taking advantage of every condition that arose to create a interest. While usually we have an advance sale of considerable amount which is increased according to the attraction coming, when we opened the box office this morning we had the poorest advance of the season, but it was evident that our efforts had borne fruit, for we have had a continual line all day and are now almost sold out for every night performance of the week. BYERS & HERMANN Comedy acrobatic and pantomime act, introducing some good wire walking and probably the best contortion work we ever had. The act is really too good for this spot. 15 Minn. F.S. WATSON & LITTLE A little talking and singing act that just does nicely in this spot. 17 Min. in One. WATERBURY BROS. & TENNY I don't believe these men are keeping up to the pace of the times and, altho they had an easy spot, they failed to score their usual hit. 16 Min. F. S. LILLIAN HERLEIN Here is an act fit to be featured on any bill. A beautiful woman, magnificently gowned (four changes of costume) with a magnificent voice and ability to act her songs. Also a very pretty scenic effect for one of the songs. 22 Min. Open in 2, close in One. CHIP & MARBLE These people did much better than I anticipated, altho I still think them decidedly overpaid, even as salaries go, because their names mean nothing to the Providence public. The fact remains, however, that they scored a large sized hit. 23 Min. F. S. MONROE & MACK Blackface comedy act, a portion of which had the audience in screams. A much better act than I expected to get. 17 Min. Open and close in One. LOIE FULLER'S BALLET OF LIGHT All that has been said by Boston in praise of this act goes for here. As beautiful a thing as we have ever had on our stage, and, while I had all kinds of a circus getting It and no one in charge of the act seems to be able to explain what they want and no help is given in an advertising way, still, after a lot of hard work, Sunday night rehearsal, et cetera, we managed to get it on and gave splendid satisfaction and it will no doubt draw us a big week's business. 23 Min. F.S. For the act proper, with a three minute wait before and after. NEFF & STARR This was the toughest kind of spot for these people, especially as there was a little wait necessary, one of their special drops hanging in two. They opened quietly but before they had gone very far they landed and finished in good shape. 17 Min. in Two. Close in One. MARCEL & BORIS This act has been described before. It is a good act, but is better placed earlier on the bill. Not sufficient "hurrah" about it to close a show of this kind. 10 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O.K.
