Boston show week January 17, '10. R. G. Larsen (Monday afternoon show) Overture. 12 min. Hugh Lloyd. 11 min. f.s. This bounding rope performer made a great opener for the show this afternoon. In fact, he could be featured down on a bill, as his act certainly has applause getting qualities. Harry B. Lester. 21 min. in 1. Lester started rather slow this afternoon but worked up gradually to his impersonations, closing very good. Mr and Mrs Perkins Fisher in "The Halfway House." 18 min. f.s. special set. This is a rather quaint comedy of the Cressy type. It may be called quiet but it gets laughs every minute and Mr Fisher's work is particularly good. It is a splendid act for this spot. Hawthorne and Burt. 14 min. in 1. These boys have not changed their act much of any since they last appeared here and did not seem to have the ginger, but worked up well and filled the spot satisfactorily. Murphy and Nichols. 27 min. f.s. playing "The School of Acting." This act had the right spot on the bill and this afternoon was a scream until the finish when Murphy took a couple of unnecessary curtains. The act is a big laugh getter and no mistake. Loie Fuller's "Ballet of Light." 20 min. f.s. That the name of Loie Fuller has box office value in Boston has been amply demonstrated., This feature was not announced until Saturday and by noon the advance sale had begun to boom. It kept up Sunday and this morning there was a line at the box office. This afternoon the house sold out completely in every part and there is no doubt about what brought the people here. The sale for the week is heavy, the biggest we have had since Peter. Miss Fuller is presenting the same "Ballet of Light" she gave at the Metropolitan and Boston opera houses with the exception that we are using only 7 girls all of whom dance barefooted, a number of dances including the Fire Dance. Considerable preparation was necessary for bringing this act into vaudeville after the more ambitious production and we were unable to have a good rehearsal, but notwithstanding that the act was put on in fairly good shape this afternoon and went big. The girls wear nothing but flowing robes. The barelegged part of it might be considered sensational in spots, but it is the very same performance given in the opera houses.
