192 C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. MARCH 28-1910. INZA & LORELLA. 13 min. F.S. This makes a good opening act. Both men work eccentric. The work consists of ground-tumbling, springboard jumping and eccentric feats. Act is full of surprised, and the comedy brings a great deal of laughter all over the house, particularly from the children. MABELLE ADAMS. 14 min. in one. Miss Adams' work is just as artistic and clever as upon her previous appearance here. Her selections were popular. Made a good impression and received strong applause. CUNNINGHAM & MARION. 13 min. in one. "An Acrobatic Talk Fest." This act is well named. The work consists of ground-tumbling and an amusing line of talk. Won laughter and applause throughout. Finish with high-kicking stunt and knockabout tumbling which pleases. FIVE ARMANIS. 15 min. F.S., close in one. A might good vocal quintette. Use a drop representing a scene in Naples on a terrace overlooking the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius in the background. Their selections were from the popular operas and all of them were well applauded. The finishing number from Rigoletto went so strong that the audience was loth [loathe] to let them go. A very good act and well placed on the bill. HUGH LLOYD. 11 min. F.S. Second appearance of Hugh Lloyd in this house. Went very strong. Does a number of remarkable stunts on the the rope, the most noteworthy of which is the violin-playing while turning somersaults on the rope. Act well dressed and showman-like in every detail. Finish with his blindfold stunt which got a very flattering hand. GREAT LESTER. 23 min. in one. Same act as presented here before. Strong advance hand and made his usual hit. GERTRUDE HOFFMANN. 52 min. Greatest vaudeville act in the business, in my estimation, barring none. It has all the elements of variety--high-class music, classic dancing, spectacular features, caricature,--indeed, an abundance of everything that appeals to all parts of a house. Held the interest of the audience intensely throughout as no other act ever presented on this stage, to my recollection. Here is a woman who does not merely two or three things well, but accomplishes the seeming miracle of taking a dozen different parts one after another with perfectly amazing fidelity, and never falling down in a single detail. Nothing more need be said about this great act than to confirm the New York reports and there is no doubt of its rousing success after the enthusiasm of today. Five minute wait. W. C. FIELDS, 17 min. F.S. This man is always a favorite here and gets the laugh for his clever and humorous work the same as ever. KINETOGRAPH. "Scenes in Switzerland." Very interesting. "True Love Never Runs Smooth." Good comedy. GENERAL REMARKS A corking good show as we thoroughly expected, and in every detail fulfilled the prophecy. Started the week off with a James house with the enthusiasm immense. The transposition will make the show run as follows:- Insa & Lorella; Mabelle Adams; Five Armanis; Hugh Lloyd; Cunningham & Marion; Gertrude Hoffman; Great Lester; W. C. Fields and Kinetograph.
