252 C.E.BARNS May 30th,1910 Philadelphia. MUSICAL FREDERICKS 12 min F.S. Makes a good opener. Play cornets, saxophones, xylophones, trombone, tomato-cans, snare drum etc. Some comedy. Act well dressed and altogether satisfactory for an early spot. Closed well. ILA GRANNON. 8 min in 1. A pretty girl with a pleasing personality and a good voice. Some new songs, one of them a base-ball song, getting an exceptional hand. HAYWARD & HAYWARD. 17 min F.S. A sketch of the poor actor life in a cheap metropolitan furnished room house. A good many bright hits and some clever acting. A good deal of laughter throughout and a good closing hand after the original finish. An act on the Norton & Nicholson order and quite as witty and sprightly. ITALIAN TRIO. 13 min in One. Selections from the operas, folk songs, etc. All exceptionally fine voices. Big applause after each selection and closed very well. PERMANE BROS. 8 min F.S. Got the crowd from the first with a rubber ball and blown up pig stunts. Their "Nightingales" Courtship is very amusing, especially to the children. Laughter throughout and a good hand at the finish. PAT ROONEY & MARIAN BENT. "At the New-stand" 17 min in two. Advance applause, same act as presented here twice before and went just as well as ever. Of course Pat's dancing won big applause. Closed strong after several encores. VALERIE BERGERE. 18 min F.S. "JUDGEMENT" A story of circumstantial evidence pointing to guilt in a murder case. Miss Bergere visits the judge in his library and traps him into a position of compromise wherein his theory of circumstantial evidence is given a severe shock and leads him to reverse his decision in the murder case. Intensely dramatic, Miss Bergere's support is all to be desired. Held the interest throughout and closed immense. Haines & Vidocq. 17 min in one. Advance applause. Same line of laughing material with some new, and all very good. Kept the audience in good humor all through and closed big. TREATS SEALS. This act makes an exceptional closer. The seals are remarkably well trained in the regulation ball balancing and baton swinging. Agood deal of comedy in the seal band and altogether pleased the audience very much. GENERAL REMARKS:- This is a good smooth running show, everything being rightly placed and the holiday crowd receiving it with abundant applause and enthusiasm. Think it will pull strong for the balance of the week.
