PHILADELPHIA B.F. KEITH'S February 11 8 PATHE. 14 min. Very good pictures. McINTOSH & HIS MAIDS. 15 min. A troupe of Scotch singers, dancers and instrumentalists. Plenty of variety to the act. They are all good performers and furnished a good opener. Act well staged. CLARA & EMILY BARRY. 17 min. Very good sister act. One of the girls at the piano holds up the comedy end with the other doing straight singing. The crossfire talk got plenty of laughs and the combination makes a very pleasing offering. Finished strong. ALEXANDER MacFAYDEN. 16 min. Pianist. With a program of high-class numbers he registered a big applause hit. He is an excellent performer displaying splendid technique and expression. For an encore, he played the "Lucia Sextet" number with one hand and won additional applause. MME. CRONIN'S ELECTRICAL NOVELTY. 14 min. The electrical portion of this act is an elaboration of what Morris Cronin offered in vaudeville a year ago. In the present act, dancing takes the place of the juggling formerly done by Cronin. It lacks speed, but is a pretty novelty. Held the audience interested and was given a good hand at the finish. BERT & HARRY GORDON. 15 min. These two boys put over a laughing and applause hit with their singing and comedy. One works straight, the other in character make-up and both sing, disclosing good voices. Finish with a bit of dancing and closed strong. VALESKA SURATT. 29 min. "The Purple Poppy." Having established herself here in musical comedy and travesty, this well known artiste was really a surprise in this comedy drama by Paul M. Potter. It is a strong story with many tense moments and Miss Suratt did splendidly in all the lines and business. A big dramatic climax held the audience spellbound and the final curtain brought big applause. Miss Suratt wore some wonderful clothes. MEHLINGER & MEYER. 16 min. This act scored one of the biggest applause hits made by any act of its kind that has been here in a long time. They have a lot of good songs and Mehlinger gets them over with a comedy touch that cannot fail to bring results. Finished very strong. PALLENBERG'S BEARS. 9 min. A corking animal novelty. The bears do a lot of remarkable tricks and the act held the audience seated right through to the finish. Very showy act and a dandy for the closing spot. GENERAL REMARKS. A great variety bill surrounding a big flashy dramatic sketch and the whole show went over fine. Business normal, three turnaways.
