CITY PHILADELPHIA THEATRE B.F. KEITH'S Week of DECEMBER 16 1918 RED CROSS PICTURES - 16 mins. The pictures were very timely, coming with the opening of the Red Cross drive and made quite a hit. THE PICKFORDS - 10 mins. A very good juggling act by a man and woman, the latter acting simply as an assistant. The man has a very good routine and the act did very well in the opening spot. MILLER & PENFOLD - 14 mins. Two boys with very good voices and their songs made a big hit. They have some good patriotic numbers and finished with a duet that went over very big. "THE CORNER STORE" - 17 mins. This act kept the audience laughing for fifteen minutes. It has one very big laughing bit in it but could be strengthened with something better than the country dance with which it closes. ANN GRAY - 14 mins. A dainty, high class musical number that scored solidly. The girl is an excellent harpist, has a pleasing voice and makes an attractive appearance. She was forced to come back to do an extra enchore and finished strong. VALERIE BERGERE & COMPANY - in "Little Cherry Blossom" 22 mins. This is her first appearance here in two years and she was a big hit in this sketch, which she used several years ago. It is one of the best of the several one-act plays she has presented in vaudeville and went over big. DUNCAN SISTER[S] - 22 mins. They were the big applause hit of the show. Every number went over big and they could have kept on several minutes longer. Undoubtedly one of the very best sister acts in vaudeville at the present time. EMMA HAIG & LOU LOCKETT - 17 mins. She is a philadelphia girl and was given a big reception. They have an act that has plenty of variety, color and speed to it. Each do a couple of single numbers and give the act a corking finish with a double number which brought them back for several bows. HARRY HINES - 21 mins. A "Nut Act" that put over a big hit in the next to closing spot. He has a breezy style and while some of his talk needs watching his stuff got a lot of laughs and he finished very strong. DERKIN'S ANIMALS - 9 mins. We have played this act several times and it has always made good. It is an excellent novelty and following a fast show did very well in the closing spot. GENERAL REMARKS - A very good bill with plenty of comedy and speed, which will furnish good entertainment for the Christmas shopping crowd and it got off to a great start with a big house Monday afternoon. CUTS MILLER & PENFOLD - Eliminate the song "How Do They Get Them" "Corner Store" - The expression "Son of a gun" and business of hitting girl, as she is bending over. HARRY HINES - Modifying "Cissy" business and side remarks about N.V.A. and other subjects which have no connection with his act.
