PHILADELPHIA B.F. KEITH'S May 19 9 KINOGRAMS - (17 mins.) Fine pictures of last Thursday's parade and some very good "Topics Of The Day". Well received. THE LA VARS - (9 mins.) - Very well executed whirlwind number gives this couple strong finish and they closed to a big hand for an opening act. Lou MILLER & BRADFORD -Alice - (14 mins.) Straight singing turn with some stepping. The man is an excellent singer and gets good results with all his numbers. The girl is only a fair dancer. The act got by nicely closing to a good hand. JANIS & CHAPLON - (17 mins.) A classy musical turn by a young fellow and girl. The former is an excellent violinist and the girl helps out with songs and a novelty imitation number. An excellent combination and a bit applause hit. ALICE HAMILTON - (13 mins.) Took the place of Miss Juliet and went very big. Appears in the quaintest of old woman's dress and uses mostly up-to-date slang. The contrast makes her stuff a great laugh-winner. Uses a sentimental recitation for a finish and closed to warm applause. "PETTICOATS" -(23 mins.) A good looking, lively sketch and went fine. Three girls and a man handled the lines and business in great shape and kept the audience laughing from start to finish. LEO DONNELLY - (15 mins.) A Philadelphian and was given a warm reception. He was a good sized hit with monologue and stories, the latter being the better. Talks very little about the war and all his stuff is humorous except the recitation at the finish. Got a lot of laughs and finished strong. IRENE BORDONI & LIEUTENANT GITZ RICE - (24 mins.) The applause hit of the show. All their numbers went big. Miss Bordoni sang the French anthem for an enchore, the audience stood while she sang, and at the finish she was compelled to come before the curtain for an extra bow. Her French songs and the man's numbers, most of which were written by him, scored solidly. CHIEFTAIN CAUPOLICAN - (9 mins.) Was in excellent voice and held down this spot fine. Sang four songs and recited a bit of verse. Closed to a very good hand. FINK'S MULES - (10 mins.) A very showy animal act and a good closing attraction. Looks pretty and the mules, ponies, dogs and monkeys do a good routine. The comedy finish was a big laugh. GENERAL REMARKS - An excellent show with some good names. Got over fine with several very big hits. CUTS Leo Donnelly - Line about fat women in submarines. "Petticoats" - Use of expression "My God".
