REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 19, 1910. Charles Lovenberg, Manager. The show played very well indeed and gave evident satisfaction to the audiences present Monday afternoon and evening and Tuesday matinee. LaMBERT & WILLIAMS Man and woman, eccentric talking and singing act. The man is quite clever and the woman rather weak, altho it will get bye in an early spot in any of the smaller cities. 17 Min. in One. AMES & CORBETT Two men, wooden shoe dancers, doing some very clever work and finished with a novelty of dancing on what are apparently drums. 8 Min. in One. ZARA CARMEN TRIO While there is nothing particularly meritorious about this act, it is well dressed, fast and effective and pleases fairly well. 9 Min. F.S. PAUL BARNES Mr. Barnes has discarded his tramp make-up and appears as an eccentric character. Has a splendid line of material and pleased immensely. 21 Min. in One. CHAS. MURRAY & CO. Old style vaudeville sketch, in which Murray assumes three characters and does a little singing and dancing. Murray himself is clever, the lady fair. The vehicle is hardly up to date. 17 Min. F. S. EARL & CURTIS In an act similar to Mack and Walker, though not quite as good. They pleased however, and I consider it a desirable act to play. 17 Min. in 1 1/2 Close in 1. "COLLEGE LIFE" This is my latest vaudeville production and I dislike very much to report upon it myself, but will endeavor to be fair to all concerned. I think it is a decided novelty for vaudeville, containing as it does sixteen men and two women. The scene represents the Campus of the College and has been spoken of in a most complimentary manner. The principal characters show a number of types of college boys, one pretty girl and the other eccentric, hacked by ten College students. There is quite a lot of comedy. There are five musical numbers beside the College Glees that close the act, all five going well and two of them being big hits. A dance by Miss Courtney scoring very heavy in addition. The College Glees at the end finish the act to a perfect whirlwind of applause and, despite the fact that the act ran forty minutes, they took [triple?] encores and several curtain calls (not forced) at each of the three performances so far given. Altho running forty-minutes, it doesn't seem long, and, unless it is really demanded by the managers, I would rather not cut it any further. In spite of its length the audience evidently wanted more. The material of the act is so kaleidoscopic and there is such a general change and so much action every few minutes that the act seems much shorter than it really is. I would be quite pleased if a committee of censors would come down and see the act. BIXLEY & FINK Same big riot as last season. 20 Min. in One. FOUR BALTUS One of the best strong men acts we ever played. 10 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O.K.
