Week of Oct. 3, 1910. HUDSON THEATRE, UNION HILL, N.J. JOHN C. PEEBLES. NOTE: Owing to the fact that six out of the seven acts were full-stage we had some interminable waits which made the show drag at the matinee. With the addition of another act in 1 and some quicker close-ins which I had several of the acts do the show ran much smoother tonight and proved satisfactory. FIELDS & HANSON, Blackface Musical Comedians. An old-fashioned act of the type that used to be furnished for the children's entertainments in the town hall on the 4th of July. Pleased in a mild way. C.D.Fcy in 2. Close in 1, 5 min. Time 19 min. [ROEBER?] & TUNISON, "A Bit of Musical Caviare" Man and woman in a very pleasing singing sketch. Both have good voices and a good routine of songs, closing with a grand opera travesty that went well. Did a 5 min close in- tonight which helped out. C.Fcy in 3. Time 14 min. MCBRIDE, PURCELL & SKELLEY in "Life on an Ocean Way." Called a nautical skit whatever that is. Carry a special set and sing several songs, pull a few gags and do some excellent dancing. The storm effect at the finish could be well eliminated and almost the entire act done in 1, except the opening. Own set in 4. Time 28 min. TED LENORE, Eccentric Comedian. Added to the bill tonight to allow another act in 1. His songs and patter went well and he held the spot in good shape. Street in 1. Time 10 Min. GARDINER & VINCENT & CO., in "Shanghaied." 6 people. This is their new offering and it went even better than their act of last season. It is constructed on similar lines to their old act and when it is running a little smoother will prove good amusement. They introduce a little of everything including some grand opera music at the finish. Several quick changes of scenery during the presentation of the act. Own set, full stage. Close in 1, 8 min. Time 24 min. FLORENCE MODENA & CO., in "When Grass Meets Sod." This is a comedy sketch by Mrs. Gardiner Crane with 4 people. Story is mildly amusing but act in its present form will never land in the headline class. The finish is laughable but the act drags in spots and needs considerable quickening and the elimination of the German porter. Fcy in 3, divided set. Time 21 min. MINNIE ST. CLAIRE, "The Girl Ftom Missouri." As two of the characters in earlier acts were using a rube girl make-up considerable of the edge was taken off Miss St. Claire before she got started. Her opening song and her patter caught the house, however, and she finished strong and took several bows. A good act for any bill. Street in 1. Time 11 min. MINYARA, in "La Novia del Toreador." This is a new pantomime with R. St. Elia featured with Minyara. It is a well conceived act with seven scenes and, despite the bad waits that proceded it held the attention of the audience and won considerable applause. Think the act has novelty enough to draw money. Own set, full stage. Time 14 min.
