C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. OCT. 10, 1910. JUGGLING BURKES. 11 min. open in two, close in one. One man works straight, the other eccentric. Do the regulation club stunts and many that are quite new. Received considerable applause. All right as an opener. The comedy is a little shy, but the close in one with the dancing and club-swinging at the same time, merits a good hand. Closed well. METROPOLITAN MINSTRELS. 20 min. open in two, close in one. A good, lively juvenile act, holding number two spot very acceptably. Miss Dooley is particularly a clever singer and dancer, and the other vocalists are clever. Two boys work blackface and get off some good jokes. Considerable applause throughout and closed very well. ROBERT HENRY HODGE & CO. 22 min. F.S. Well known act on the circuit. Made a hit here before and duplicated it this time. Laughter and applause throughout and closed strong. CLIFFORD WALKER. 16 min. in one. All Walker's material is very English. It is well delivered and his pianologue work won the best hands. A line of new spoken verses caught on very well toward the close. Held the spot O.K., although not an act for a harder place on the bill. CHIP & MARBLE. 26 min. F.S. Third presentation here. Advance applause. New scenery and costumes and very effective. Introduce some new songs, well received and encored. A very dainty and artistic act that went better than ever before. Closed big. BASQUE QUARTETTE. 15 min. in one. These people are well received whenever they make a recurrent visit here. The three men have good voices, and the soprano is excellent. Gave four selections, three from the operas and one popular. Good applause. All right in this spot. Closed well. PORTER J. WHITE & CO. "The Visitor." 23 min. F.S. This is a strong dramatic sketch that has been presented here before and fully described. Mr. White received advance applause and the act held the interest of the audience tensely up to a strong close. BARRY & WOLFORD. "At the Song Booth." 17 min. Special in one. Carry their own drop, representing Coney Island Boardwalk, with the Song Booth to the right. A lot of new songs, some of them topical, interspersed with some very clever patter. Kept the audience in good humor. Laughter and occasional applause. Closed very well indeed with several curtain-calls. GASCH SISTERS. 8 min. F.S. Two mighty pretty girls, stunningly costumed and doing one of the most skilful acrobatic acts ever seen. Applause was very liberal as they well deserved, and the finish was big. GENERAL REMARKS. A well-playing, well-blended and well-pleasing show. While it contains no three thousand dollar beauties, still it affords three hours of continuous good entertainment and for a wonder the Monday afternoon audience realized that they were living and actually applauded all through the afternoon. Wonders will never cease. KINETOGRAPH. "The Detective's Dream." A very amusing comedy film. CUT. HENRY HODGE:- Modification of word "devil."
