C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. OCT. 24, 1910. DEONZO BROS. & FRIDAY. 16 min. F. S. This is a splendid opener. Two men work straight, one blackface. The fun of the blackface comedian is a little shy of humor, but the work of the jumpers keeps up the interest of the audience. Their paraphernalia is showman-like. The skill of one of the members in jumping from candlesticks mounted on high tables commands admiration. Closed very well. DUFF & WALSH. 11 min. in one. Two clever dancers who do not do much in the vocal line, but whose dancing, both single and double, on the mat, is exceptional. All right for an early spot on the bill. Closed well. JAMES & SADIE LEONARD. "When Caesar C's Her." 17 min. F.S. Same act as presented here before and went just as big. Got the audience all the way through and closed big. One of the best travesty acts in vaudeville, if not the best. JARROW. 22 min. in one. This man has a very individual manner. Succeeds in holding the attention of the audience with laughter and applause throughout his entire act. His lemon trick and tobacco trick are very puzzling, and his running fire of banter is original and clever. Closed very well indeed. TWO VIVIANS. 17 min. F.S. Appear in evening dress and have a very finished and skillful act. Miss Vivian's work gets particularly good applause, especially her shooting from the first balcony and the unique feat of playing a mechanical piano with the rifle and accompanying voice got the crowd very strong. Closed big. ETHEL GREEN. 24 min. in one. First appearance here. Miss Green makes a very pretty picture in four changes of costume and has a pleasing personality. Her selections were well chosen and sufficiently varied. Her kid song got good applause. Closed very strong. RAYNO'S DOGS. 9 min. F.S. Well known act on the circuit. A great dog act, and no mistake. Roars of laughter and a big finish. JACK WILSON TRIO. 31 min. in one. Well known on the circuit. Just as big a hit as always. Wilson introduced a lot of new stuff, including some topical bits that caught the crowd big. ROSE PITONOF. 10 min.F.S. This little girl has justified everything that has been said about her. She is especially valuable from an advertising standpoint as her work lends itself to publicity and her youth prepossesses everybody in her favor. The tank which was used for the first time is entirely free and clear above the floor of the stage, with a suitable setting, and every one of Miss Pitonof's movements in the water can be plainly seen through the heavy plate glass windows. Every one of her feats got a good hand and at the finish she was called to respond to strong applause. As a headline feature she has been found entirely satisfactory and will be much talked about even by people who are not particularly interested in swimming. The newspapers are particularly kind to her and help us to make her popular. KINETOGRAPH. "Miscalculation." The best comedy film we have played since "The Rarebit Fiend." GENERAL REMARKS. This is a good show on the whole and I think will insure us good business, particularly with the advertising we have had. The victorious baseball champions will be at the theatre tonight in a body, together with the Mayor and other important Philadelphians. This ought to start off the week's business with a rush. MUSIC HALL Pawtucket R. I. Week of Oct 31st 1910 Monday Tuesday & Wednesday BISSETT & SHADY Man and woman, singing and dancing, 12 minutes in one, just went fair, ordinary act FORD & WSTLEY Two men, singing and talking, 15 minutes in one, Funny line of talk went big 4 DeWOLFS Juvenile character change artists, 20 minutes in one, strong act went big David R Buffinton
