C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. DEC. 19, 1910. DENNIS BROS. 8 min. F.S. This act makes a mighty good opener. One man works straight, the other clown. Their work is fast and novel. At times it is positively thrilling. Frequent applause, and the finish of the act when they turn over and over on the end of the revolving ladder was good. LEON ROGEE. 10 min. in one. This man's imitations of cello, trombone, piccolo, etc., were quite remarkable. Received good applause. Puts a little comedy in his act which helps it to popularity. His whistling solo at the close got a good hand. HOPKINS, AXTELLE & CO. 17 min. open and close in one. Three changes of costume. Drop shows the New York Pier, afterwards a pullman parlor car and lastly a very pretty drop. Act is full of life and ginger all through and gets a good many laughs. MR. & MRS. FREDERIC VOELKER. 22 min. F.S. The same classy romantic musical act that we have played before with such satisfaction. Mr. Voelker is a great favorite in Philadelphia, having lived here a good many years. His work is better than ever before, and his wife, besides making a charming picture at the piano, accompanies him admirably. Was compelled to give two encores. Will be a drawing card with our evening audience. ANDY RICE. 15 min. in one. Same line of material as delivered here before, with some new parodies. Held the spot all right. Closed well. PAUL SELDOMS' STATUARY. 14 min. F.S. Very beautiful work that interested the audience throughout and received a good hand at each rise of the curtain. Closed to good applause. SAM MANN &CO. "The New Leader." 36 min. F.S. Received an ovation today for one of the most original acts on the seamy side of stage life that has ever appeared here. From the opening right through to the very funny close, when the German Leader smashes his violin over the head of the stage manager, there is constant laughter, and the finish was big. There is a little thread of romance running through the fun which interests the audience and gives the new leader the halo of heroism in a humble way. Mr. Mann's support is all that could be wished for, "Props" being good and the "sister" act particularly funny. WRIGHT & DIETRICH. 19 min. in one. Two of the classiest singers in vaudeville. Mr. Wright has a very fine tenor voice, and Miss Dietrich a really phenomenal soprano, beside making a very pretty picture on the stage. Good repertoire of songs and received flattering applause. Closed very well. THREE MACAGNOS. 8 min. F.S. A fairly good acrobatic act on the order of the Three Yoscarrys but not as good. Will manage to get by in the closing spot this week, but would not care to play them there with a bigger show. KINETOGRAPH. "Aeroplanes in Flight and Construction." An interesting and timely film. "The Aviation Craze." Good comedy and also timely. GENERAL REMARKS. Considering this week in the year--just before the Holidays--this is the right sort of a show, particularly with such a strong comedy card as Sam Mann. The show played off smoothly and satisfactorily up to the Three Macagnos who had a little difficulty in getting laughter after all the good comedy that went before them. MUSIC HALL Pawtucket R. I. 3 days Dec. 22--23--24 HERMAN & RICE Comedy Acrobats, comedy just fair, straight man does a few good tricks, just went fair 12 minutes full stage BENSON & BELL Man and woman comedy sketch "Dancer and the Dude," singing and dancing, open in one close full stage special scenery 18 minutes went very well JOHNSON Ventriloquist 14 minutes going good same as first three days David R Buffinton
