C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. FEB. 6, 1911. THREE MARCANTONIS. 9 min. F.S. One of the most remarkable strong men acts we have ever played. All three are magnificent athletes, one of them a wonder of the real Sandow type. Use rings and trapeze and are extremely well trained and showman-like in everything they do. This act could hold a good spot on any bill with credit. Of course, as an opener, it is more than acceptable. Each feat got a good hand and they made a fine close. WARD & CULLEN. 13 min. in one. A good comedian and clever soubrette. Make a good appearance and sing some favorite ballads very well. Could hold a more important spot with credit. LANCTON-LUCIER & CO. 18 min. F.S., close in one. A lady sitting in the box next to me laughed all the way through this act and said, "Well isn't that one crazy sketch!" But, that's the answer - it is certainly one scream from all parts of the house, and just what is wanted in an early spot to wake up any crowd, if they need waking. The encore with the order for the comedian to vacate the stage is an irresistible piece of acting. Closed big. EXPOSITION.FOUR. 18 min. F.S., close in one. Three men working straight, one of them blackface. This act does not need any comment other than to say that it is right up to the standard in all their instrumental and vocal work. The quick changes of costume got a good hand. Considerable comedy. Closed very strong. (The close in one is a bluff, as it runs only a minute and a half and it is impossible to make any kind of a set behind it.) BERT LEVY. 13 min. F.S. Big advance hand. Levy has become a favorite here with his artistic work which is more expert than ever and goes stronger. He draws fewer pictures but all of them better than ever before. Each one of his cartoons got a big hand and his encore likewise gave him prolonged applause at the finish. VICTOR NIBLO'S BIRDS. 12 min. in one. The novelty of this act appealed to our crowd, and although Niblo had a hard spot to fill right after Levy, he held it in good shape. He makes a good appearance and talks well, and the act has the additional merit of not being too long or making too many repetitions. Closed well. MLLE. GENEE. 16 min. F.S. Genee filled the house from top to bottom this afternoon, and it was a very enthusiastic crowd. She received a big advance hand, and each one of her special features was liberally applauded. There is no doubt about her popularity and she well deserves it, being an absolute genius in her work and the act is well dressed, with excellent music. She will be the sensation of the town for the balance of the week, if weather conditions are at all favorable. CONLIN, STEELE & CARR. "Just From College." 18 min. in one. This act is full of ginger with lots of fun as well as expert musical work. The trick piano playing was especially applauded and there were sufficient surprises through the act to hold it up in great shape. Made absolutely good in this difficult spot on the bill. HERZOG'S HORSES. 17 min. F.S. Played our house many times and always made good, being an ideal closing act of the animal type. The audience waited for it and gave each one of their stunts and evolutions good applause. KINETOGRAPH. "Tunny Fishing in the Mediterranean." A splendid travel film showing beautifully on the Photoplane. "The Marvellous Plates." A grotesque film full of surprises and some comedy. GENERAL REMARKS. This is a corking good show and gave thorough satisfaction, judging from the very liberal applause. There ought to be big business in a show like this with a big and very popular feature in Genee. MUSIC HALL Pawtucket R. I. 3 days Feb. 2 3 4 LES COPELAND Piano playing and singing. 10 minutes in one, songs good, black face act eccentric, went very well THE LESSOS ALL WEEK clever juggler 10 minutes goes big THE EXPOSITOS Singing act in one, special drop, Grand Opera selections, good costumes 10 minutes went very well David R Buffinton
