REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW, WEEK MARCH 10, 1913--W.W.PROSSER. WILL & KEMP: Two men working straight in a very meritorious acrobatic, head and hand balancing, etc No. Both make a good appearance and every trick is put over most capably, making a particularly good opener. Applause throughout, and a strong finish. Landscape in 2, 7, minutes. (Syracuse) HARRY ATKINSON: In "Nursery Rhyme" monologue, introducing various imitations of musical instruments. A really clever performer with a pleasing personality and a knack of delivering his work in a telling manner. Found instant favor, going well throughout and finishing strong. Olio in 1, 12 minutes. (New York) McDEVITT, KELLY & LUCIE: Two men, one woman presenting "The Piano Movers and the Actress". Thoroughly good variety number. Plenty of comedy, singing and dancing. A decidedly favorable reception. Strong finish. Dark Fancy in 3, close in 1, 20 minutes. (Pittsburgh) THE ACT BEAUTIFUL: A series of effective poses, "The Story of the Hunt", enacted by a man, woman, horse and dogs. Very artistic and well worth while. Held attention throughout, winning applause after each posture. Finished quite strong. Special in 4, 10 min. (Syracuse) QUINLAN & RICHARDS: In "The Traveling Dentist". This act did very well, gaining abundant laughs and applause and apparently pleasing throughout, but for some unaccountable reason, they didnot finish very strong, but I cannot figure out why, for they deserved much more than they received. Not a fall-down, by any means, simply a slight "finish" disappointment. Special in 1, 18 minutes. (Philadelphia) EIGHT BERLIN MADCAPS: Wellknown acrobatic dancing number which went well throughout and finished strong. Palace in 4, 10 minutes. (Cleveland) JULIET? Young woman impersonating a series of character studies. She is particularly clever and undoubtedly of more than ordinary talent. Her work is all clean and carefully evolved as to detail. Caught on at the beginning. Improved rapidly and finished very strong. Olio in 1, 25 minutes. (Hamilton, Canada) FRANK RAE & CO. One man, two women in one-act skit, "Bottle 6-40-9", an exaggerated comedy idea but very well worked out, developing into a good laugh producer which won and held attention giving satisfaction throughout and finishing quite strong. Light Fancy in 3, 21 minutes. (Open) AVON COMEDY FOUR: Wellknown comedy quartet which proved a fun-riot, and the unquestionable hit of the show. Went like a cyclone throughout with laughter in abundance and many bows at finish. Kitchen [in?] open and close in one, 24 minutes. (Syracuse) ALPINE TROUPE: 3 women, 2 men in double wire number. Picturesque costumes and good looking people. Work is fast and their tricks gain applause. A thoroughly worth-while offering, making [excellent?] closer. With few exceptions, held them to finish, [illegible] the unusual length of the bill. Garden in 5, 11 min. (Buffalo) PATHE WEEKLY: O.K.
