CRITICISM OF B.F. KEITH'S UNION SQUARE THEATRE CRITICISM OF B.F. KEITH'S UNION SQUARE THEATRE WEEK OF APRIL 7TH. 1913. JOHN HIGGINS Billed as "Champion Jumper." Goes through various stunts of jumping over chairs, tables etc. opening the show in excellent manner. Greatly appreciated. Eight minutes, full stage. SAMPSEL AND REILLY Man and woman, in a very neat singing specialty. Both make a very pleasing appearance--and have good voices with a few steps of dancing. Miss Reilly, during the rendition of some up-to-date songs, exhibits some stunning gowns. A splendid act that should be played further down. Fourteen minutes in one. JAMES LEONARD AND COMPANY Presenting the satire, "When Ham-Let's Her". It is evident that Mr. Leonard has greatly improved his offering from the recent reports received. To-day every line went with a scream. Sixteen minutes, full stage. McKAY AND CANTWELL Giving us the well known comedy, "A-Breeze From Broadway" Very neat. Hit of the show up to this time. Eighteen minutes in one. CECIL LEAN Assisted by Miss Cleo Mayfield and James Billings, in a burlesque called, "The Moving Picture Man" which contains a satire on cheap melodrama, illustrated songs and the talking pictures, with songs and dances sandwiched in. A novel idea, well received and bound to develop. Received quite a number of laughs and finished to good applause. Twenty-two minutes, open and close in one. CAESAR RIVOLI Too well known for any comment. Although we played The Great Bernardi a short time ago, Rivoli held the attention with interrupted applause and a good hand on the finish. Eighteen minutes, full stage, close in one. KATE ELINORE AND SAM WILLIAMS In their well known specialty, which surely got the laughs and went well, and fully as strong as before. Eighteen minutes in one. YE COLONIAL SEPTETTE A splendid musical feature and one that held the audience. Twenty-two minutes, full stage, close in one. TALKING PICTURES "Votes for Women" "Anniversary of Jerry and Mandy" RAWLS AND VON KAUFMAN In a "Willking Worker" Well known. Received with screams. Twenty-seven minutes, full stage, close in one.
