-CRITICISM- B. F. KEITH'S UNION SQUARE THEATRE- WEEK OF APRIL 21st FRANK PARISH A clean cut young fellow in a novel jumping exhibition. While playing the accordian and dancing, he goes through some difficult stunts using tables, barrels, chairs and boxes. It is a splendid act and one that could be used to better advantage further down. Six minutes in one, two or full stage. THE KEMPS This well known colored couple held their own in their specialty, "Going to Dahome" securing many laughs and a big hand at the finish. Eighteen minutes, in one. MAZEPPA "The Fire Fighting Horse" A detailed description of this horse was given last week and I can only say his performance is really fine, especially the fire scene. The horse is creating talk and is drawing some money. He could be used as a feature anywhere as he has the "printing" which is seventy-five percent of the battle. NESTOR AND BERGMAN Two young men, making their first appearance in the East, in a specialty of patter and songs. They are going fairly well here and, at the price, are all right for the Square. Fourteen minutes in one and a half. BESSIE TONER-ALFRED GRAN AND COMPANY In the one-act playlet called, "Tricked" It is an interesting story but talky, containing some good laughs, although played in a serious vein. The company is good, particularly Miss Toner, who is a splendid actress. Twenty minutes, full stage. BESSIE WYNNE It is remarkable how this young woman is received here. Her selection of songs are the best she has ever given us and she leaves them wanting more at every performance. Twenty-one minutes in one. FRANK MILTON AND DE LONG SISTERS In their well known comedy, "Twenty Minutes Layover at Alfalfa Junction" A splendid comedy. The De Long sisters are such rapid fire conversationalists the jury sometimes fail to get them, however, they make them laugh and the act is good. Sixteen minutes, full stage, close in one three minutes. BILLY McDERMOTT "Tramp Comedian" This fellow has a lot of good bright material and songs and is a pretty fair imitation of Nat Wills. Twenty-one minutes in one. THE THREE ALEX Quite a novel equilibristic act and one that held the house and received a big lot of applause. Six minutes, full stage. THE TALKIES" Showing two subjects:- "The Tendrfoots Temperance Pledge" "The Singing Society"
