BOSTON SHOW - B. F. KEITH'S THEATRE - WEEK JULY 14, '13 [1913] (R. G. Larsen.) KINETOPHOME. 7 minutes in one. RYAN BROTHERS. 6 minutes f.s. Garden. A flashily dressed, fast double trap act that makes a splendid opener. NEWBOLD and GRIBBEN. 18 minutes in one. Garden. This well known act duplicated their success of previous visits. Closed strong. CAMERON and DEVITT. 21 minutes f.s. Rose C.D.F. "The Groom Forgot." A comedy sketch with three people. A fair comedy, and only fair. Got quite a few laughs and closed well. CHARLES LEONARD FLETCHER. 16 minutes in one. O.P. Drapery. Has some new characters, and was very well received. CLAYTON KENNEDY and [HATTIE? MATTIE?] ROONEY. 22 minutes f.s. Interior. A conglomeration of dancing, piano playing and clowning without much rhyme or reason that went over in first-class shape. CLAUDE GOLDEN. 19 minutes in one. Olio. Golden works in the audience as a rube, with his assistant appearing as the card expert on the stage. Golden is invited upon the stage when he makes some remarks about the expert's work, and displays a really remarkable routine of card tricks. An excellent novelty that held the interest every minute, and closed strong. "MEISTERSINGERS' ALL-STAR MINSTRELS." 56 minutes f.s. Special set. This is a big minstrel first-part with the twelve Meistersingers in the front row, Robert Evans as interlocutor, Kaufman Brothers and Swor & Mack on the ends, a chorus of thirty and orchestra of fifteen. We are advertising it as the greatest first part in the history of minstrelsy, and judging from the comments of the audiences at both performances to-day, this describes it better than anything else that might be written or said. Everyone of the fourteen numbers was strongly applauded, and although the act runs fifteen minutes later than our regular vaudeville show, it held the audience to their seats without a break. Closed very, very big. CUTS: Kennedy & Rooney - reference to Y.W.C.A. Cameron & Devitt - word "chicken." Newbold & Gribben - open dress in back of man. Swor & Mack - gags about "away ahead of you" and "Hell."
