CRITICISM B.F. KEITH'S UNION SQUARE THEATRE WEEK OF AUGUST 18TH. FRAWLEY AND HUNT Two young men, one working straight and one eccentric, presenting a splendid flying ring specialty. A good act and worthy of a better place on the bill. Use their own cyclorama drop. Rather a pretentious affair. 10 minutes. "CHUCK RIESNER AND HENRIETTA [GORES? GOBES?] Described in previous criticism. Opened a little tame but managed to get the audience later on, and finished to a fairly good hand. Fifteen minutes in one. HYMAN ADLER AND COMPANY Two men and one woman presenting the playlet, "The Misers Dream". Mr. Adler is well known in this section of the city, and his little offering got over very nicely, but I doubt very much if it could be used in the better houses over the circuit. JOHN AND MAE BURKE "The Rag-Time Soldier". Brought the first big laugh and applause of the day. Thirteen minutes. ARTHUR [HOOPS?]-RUBY HOFFMAN AND COMPANY Presenting a dramatic playlet, called "The Open Window", by Louis Allen. This is rather a dainty affair and interesting, but just falls short of being a hit, although gets over nicely. Sixteen minutes, full stage. LEO CARILLO This chap seems to be a favorite here, as he received quite a lot of advance applause. He gave his regular routine, containing a lot of new patter and a recitation. Received quite a number of laughs and held this place in splendid manner. Fifteen minutes in one. VICTOR MOORE AND EMMA LITTLEFIELD Presenting the travesty, "Change Your Act, Or Back To The Woods". Remarkable how this act was received. The act remains the same as before, except here and there a new lines has been added, a recitation and some new business. The laughs were frequent and they received just as much applause as any other act on the bill. Twenty minutes, open in one, go to full stage, back to one. JAMES DIAMOND AND SIBYL BRENNAN They have a lot of new songs and were getting away with this position in nice shape, but Miss Brennan contracted a cold and they decided to cancel. Seventeen minutes in one. THREE ESCARDOS A splendid gymnastic number using the bounding table, which called for a lot of applause and finished and excellent show in fact, one of the best we have had this season.
