REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW, WEEK SEPT. 15..W.W. PROSSER. THE MARSHES: Two men, one comedy, the other straight. Juggling number. A very good act, which proved alright as an opener. Rocky Mountain Pass in 2, 10 minutes. (Toledo) WALTER VAN BRUNT: "America's Most Popular Phonograph Singer". Well-appearing young man who got along quite well with several styles of songs. He has a pleasing voice and did quite well throughout, though nothing big. Olio in 1, 15 minutes. (Newark, N.J.) LANCTON, LUCIER & CO: Two men, one woman in "Heaps of Hilarity". Quite a bit of new material and the best of the old. Proved excellent for laughing purposes, going big throughout and finishing very strong. Library in 3, 20 minutes. (Cincinnati) HARRY K. THAW PICTURES: They seemed to be of interest throughout and held attention well. There was no manifestation either for or against them, and they seemed to be accepted wholly as a matter of course. Picture sheet in 1, 18 min. KAJIYAMA: Well-known Japanese Writing Expert. Held attention throughout and seemed to be well liked. Fairly strong finish. Olio in [?], 12 minutes. (Open) CLEO GASCOIGNE: Petite Prima Donna. Sang several high-class numbers with the aid of a spectacular Musical Director in the pit. The lady didn't seem to make much of an impression on our audience though to her credit it must be said that her efforts to please were well worth while. and did not fail through lack of merit. There was no finish at all. Olio in 1, 12 minutes. (Pittsburgh) PERCY WARAM & CO: Two men, one woman in "The Boatswain's Mate". This is an English farce which caught on very well. Liberal laughter occurred throughout the act and there was a pretty fair finish. Special in 4, 20 minutes. (Erie, Pa.) JOHN & MAE BURKE: Presenting "The Ragtime Soldier". Did very well throughout, proving a good laugh producer. Plenty of laughter and applause and a good strong finish. Special, Conservatory and olio in 1 and 2, 20 min. (Toledo) ALBER'S POLAR BEARS: Fine, big animal act which did very well for the sort of offering it is. Animal acts are not popular here, but this one did a little better than is usually the case. Fairly strong finish. Special in 5, 10 minutes. (Trenton, N.J.) PATHE WEEKLY: O.K.
