C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. OCT. 13, 1913. THIESSEN'S DOGS. 10 min. F.S. Man and woman with some very cleverly trained dogs. Use table, chairs and ladders. The balancing-terriers won especially good applause. Makes a very good opener. WILLIAMS & SEGAL. 10 min. in one. Man and girl very neatly dressed who offer a dancing feature that is very good. Three changes of costume. Closed very well. RAWLS & VON KAUFMAN. 23 min. F.S., close in one. Man works blackface, woman straight, both corking good entertainers for the upper half of the bill. Amusing line of material, got plenty of applause and closed well. Gave an encore. ETHEL MAE BARKER. 18 min. in one. A pretty girl who plays the violin exceptionally well. Appears in two changes of costume. Each one of her selections received a good hand well deserved. Made a strong close after two encores. VALERIE BERGERE. 23 min. "A Bowery Camille." Big advance hand. An admirable play presented by a strong local favorite. Miss Bergere held her audience throughout this excellent sketch and got three curtain calls at the close. WILLIAMS & WOLFUS. 18 min. in one. A very amusing sketch that kept the audience in roars of laughter from start to finish. Williams' work on the piano is very good and his comedy with the piano-stool is very clever. Closed very strong. OWEN McGIVENEY. 23 min. F.S. "Bill Sykes." Same act as presented previously and went as big as before. Each one of his quick changes of costume received a hand, and on the whole it is one of the greatest protean sketches we have ever played. Closed very strong. BISON CITY FOUR. 14 min. in one. Carry their own drop. Make two changes of costume, three appearing in eccentric comedy make-up. Good line of rough comedy which got the crowd. Songs well put over and on the whole, held this hard spot with entire credit. THE UESSENS. 26 min. F.S. This is a great closing act, using their head-balancing and ladder work, and supplementing it with toe-dancing and equilibristic stunts on table and perch. Splendid applause throughout and a strong finish. PATHE WEEKLY. A very good reel. GENERAL REMARKS. A splendid bill that plays like wildfire. Should satisfy our audiences perfectly. Little too long this afternoon, but two or three of the acts have been asked to cut from three to five minutes, which will bring it down to normal time.
