Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of November 3, 1913. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. The bill this week is a fairly good one, it picks up strength as it goes along. The first three acts, while they have some merit, fell rather flat with the first audience on Monday. I was inclined to give the acts the benefit of the doubt, but when the fourth act came on and picked up the show and made something of a hit, I was quite sure that the trouble wasn't with the audience, but with the act. LOUIS STONE. Upside down dancer. While there is considerable merit to this man's work and he is entitled to credit for his novelty, after he has done about five minutes of the work, the thing rather palls and becomes tiresome until the finish; didn't do so well on the close. 10 Min. F.S. SHRINER & RICHARDS Man and woman in the usual comedy act that we are being surfeited with at present. This one has "small time" stamped all over it; absolutely devoid of class. It would be well paid at $125, even under the present rulings of high figures that prevail. 13 Min. in One. TYROLEAN TROUBADOURS Somewhat disappointing. 13 Min. F. S. FRED V. BOWERS & CO. A good lively act that pleased immensely; plenty of ginger; changes of scenery, etc. give it the aspect of a production. All in all most acceptable. 16 Min. F. S. with a very short opening and close in One. DARE BROS. Hand to hand balancers; good act. Managed to hold the spot, although only put here for expediency in order to make the set for Miss Bergere. 9 Min. in One. VALERIE BERGERE & CO. In the sketch "Judgment." A very serious affair, which, while personally I don't care a lot about, I must admit that the audience ate up. Went very strong indeed. 17 Min. F. S. JONES & SYLVESTER. These fellows were a surprise. I had been led to believe after I booked them that they wouldn't amount to much. They have some good comedy, which the larger of the two men puts over in good style and finish with some good songs. Thoroughly satisfactory. 18 Min. in One. CRESSY & DAYNE In the best sketch that they ever gave us, "The Man Who Remembered." Closed the show in fine shape; kept the audience in their seats and had them roaring with laughter. 26 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES. O. K.
