29 CRITICISM OF KEITH'S PHILADELPHIA NOV 19/02. 1ST SHOW. Stereopticon - 3 shows - 7 mins. Sheet - interesting and instructive. [illegible] show to-day Marinallas - 3 shows - 11 mins. - Garden in Four - Very good from a three-a-day standpoint; some new and difficult feats. Lillian Shaw - 3 shows - 11 Mins. - Fancy in One - Ordinary three-a-day act. Juggling Doyle- 3 shows - 12 Mins. - garden in Four - does the regulation juggling; perhaps is at his best in hoop rolling. Burke's Dogs - 3 shows - Garden in Three - Very good dog act; quite a hit. Palfrey & Wilton - 3 shows - 11 Mins. - Wood in Four - doing the best of bicycle turns; satisfactory as to trick riding; comedy, effective. Al. Lawrence - 3 shows - 14 mins. - Fancy in One - Monologuist of three-a-day quality; made good at this portion of bill. Joe Maxwell & Co. 2 shows - 19 mins. - own set - Good vocal turn; more popular than on last previous visit. Lillie Western - 2 shows - 14 Mins. - garden in Two - Apparently as strong as during former engagement. Hugh Stanton & Florence Modena - 2 shows - 20 Mins. - C. P. Boxed - in "For Reform"--Early portion did not arouse the house, but latter half evoked general roars of laughter; perhaps as effective as during former engagement. Corbley & Burke - 16 Mins. - St. in One - 3 shows - Did hardly anything beyond three-a-day act matter; went strong at times. Papinta - 2 shows - 10 Mins. - Own Set - Act the best of its kind; never was an act that earned great applause; but evoked as much to-day, if not more, than last Monday. Lew Bloom - 2 shows - 13 Mins. - St. in One - Equal to the average monologuist. Some of his talk and parodies went well. Williams & Tucker - 2 shows - 23 Mins. - Own Set - "Driftwood" - Undoubtedly stronger than former production of this piece; has been strengthened in the comedy section; pathos probably not as strong as before. Given a reception/ Clarice Vance - 2 shows - 11 Mins. - Fancy in One - Welcomed cordially; and turn apparently has lost little, if any, of its value. Johnson, Davenport & Lorella - 2 shows - 19 Mins. - Garden in Four - As popular as during former engagement. Biograph - 2 shows to-day - 9 mins. - Sheet - Not up to its average show. COMMENT:- Show as a whole. perhaps up to the average JOHN J. KNIRANS.
