NEW YORK SHOW: WEEK FEBRUARY 23rd: ........................... AR- OSTRADO:- Clean looking young man who does a strength act on the trapeze, and also some very good balancing on a pedestal. Very good act to open the show. 10 minutes, full stage. AR- BISSELL & LOCK: Two men in a blackface singing act. Very neatly dressed act and both of the young men are exceptionally clever dancers. Act went very strong in a small place on the bill. 14 Mins.1: ER- BIOGRAPH:- Very good collection of views this week. 12 minutes in 1: GYH: JOSEPHINE GASSMAN:- Miss Gassman was hampered considerably on account of only being able to use one of her pickaninnies, as we were unable to get a permit for the youngest one. The act went very well, however, and can be classed as good. 13 minutes in one. GHR:- KELLY & KENT:- Man and a woman in a very good comedy sketch, closing with their well known Bowery dance, which finished the act up with a perfect scream. They are an exceptionally clever couple. 15 mins. open full stage, closing with about 3 minutes in one. YYH-SMITH & FULLER:- Man and a woman in a high-class musical act. I took this act off the Philaelphia bill this week as an accommodation. They were here only about two months ago, but went fully as strong as ever. 25 minutes; closing with about 6 minutes in one. GNH-MOTO-GIRL:- This act is fully as strong here as it has been in any of the houses on the circuit. Being a holiday and our audience being composed largely of suburban people, they seemed to be more or less bewildered in regard to the act, and I think the majority of them, up to the time the girl spoke, were of the impression that it was really a machine. She got a tremendous hand at the finish and was obliged to come out and bow after the card for the succeeding act was putout.11 Mins. full stage. GYH-RAE & BROSCHE:- Man and a woman in a comedy talking act. A great deal of the material used by these people is old, but they have a good personality, which carries the act and their finish is especially strong. 18 mins. opening in one, go to full stage, and then close in one. YYH: W. C. FIELDS:- This man is unquestionably the peer of all comedy jugglers. 19 minutes; full stage. NH-CHARLOTTE GUYER GEORGE:-Contralto: This woman was put on to take the place of Miss Shepard, who was unable to open on account of a cold. She has a remarkably fine voice and pleased the audience immensely. 10 minutes in one. MHR-ARTHUR & JENNIE MINN:- In a comedy sketch entitled "The Messenger Boy". They have quite a lot of new talk at the commencement of their act, but go over to their old material later on, and finish with the piano stool as of yore. Act went fully as strong as ever, the climax where he is thrown off the stool making a great hit. 20 mins. full stage. GYH-LEW HAWKINS:- Blackface comedian. Had quite a lot of new material and went very strong indeed. 15 minutes in one. MRR-BARROWS-LANCASTER CO:- Presenting their new sketch "A Jolly [Hollier?]" which is probably the best thing that these people have ever done. There is considerable heart interest in it at the finish, and the early part of the act is full of good comedy. 25 minutes, full stage. GYH-JAS. RICHMOND GLENNROY:- Eccentric talking act. On the afternoon bill we were obliged to cut his turn down to about half, as the show was very late. At that he went well and will undoubtedly be received with the usual applause on the night show. 15 minutes, in one. AR-WALDORF & MENDEZ: Two men in an acrobatic comedy act, one of the men making up something after the style of Herbert of Herbert & Carron. It is not a great act, but it is harmless and seemed to please. 13 Mins. full stage. GER- JNO. & BERTHA GLEASON:- Young boy and girl in a neat and refined dancing act, which is too well known to need comment. Went very nicely this afternoon. 13 minutes in one. GHR-MARTINI & MAXMILLIAN:- of the old act of Brannan & Martini, and consists of two men, one of them being a straight magician and the other in a comedy make-up acting as his assistant and exposes the various tricks that the other one does. It is a good laughing act. 16 minutes, open full stage, closing with 4 minutes in one. S. K. HODGDON.
