NEW YORK SHOW: WEEK MARCH 23rd: 1903: ......... STEREOPTICON:- The usual selection of views. 6 minutes in one. NH- AL WALE:- Skatorial performer. He does an act on roller skates and on unicycles, and as we don't play anything of this sort very often it went very well indeed, it being something of a novelty to our audience. 10 minutes; full stage. NH- TEED & LANELL:- Man and woman in an Irish comedy singing, dancing and talking act. The talking was somewhat dreary principally because there was so much of it, but the dancing was all right. I have cut out about all the talking so that they will hereafter do practically a dancing act, in which they will be all right. 18 Mins. open full stage, close in one. KR- BIOGRAPH:- Fairly good selection of views this week. 13 Mins. iin one. GRE- LORIMER JOHNSTON & CAROLINE COOKE:- In a comedy sketch entitled "All's Fair in Love". This act went very well indeed with the audience, but would go a great deal better if it were in the hands of a couple of people who could interpret it more acceptably. The lines and situations are very funny and they got lots of laughs, but the man especially is somewhat mechanical and lost many opportunities which he might otherwise have used to advantage. Can safely be called a good act. 20# full stg. YHR- WILES-STAVORDALE QUINTETTE:- Five men, four of them playing banjos, and the other playing a Harp, producing the effect which to a certain extent, resembles the human voice. Since their first appearance here they have picked up several American airs and their act goes even better than it did at first. This is to a certain extent, a novelty and the music they play is really first-class. 12 Minutes, in one. MRR- THE ROSSOW MIDGETS:- Same act that they have always done, consisting of athletic work and boxing. I think it went better this time than it did earlier in the season, the boxing bout especially getting a lot of laughs. 11 minutes, full stage. KR- SMIRL & KESSNER:- In an acrobatic singing, dancing and comedy act. Man and woman. The turn is modelled after that of O'Brien & Mavel, and I think the man works even better than O'Brien, the woman, however, is not as good as Mavel, still the act went very big and it can be called a valuable addition to any bill. The finish in one with the poodle dog is very strong. 20 Mins. open full stage, close in one. YHR- CALLAHAN & MACK:- Two men in an Irish talking and dancing act interspersed with bag-pipe and flute playing. This act has developed a great deal during the past year, and comes mighty close to being a classic. Callahan's impersonation of the old Irishman is simply great, and they were west thoroughly appreciate by the audience. 21 Mins. full stg NH- AURIE DAGWELL:- Contralto: This woman has a very good voice indeed, and a strong personality. She closes her act with a medley of old-time patriotic songs, which makes quite a hit. 12 inutes, in one. NRR- ROBERT MILLIARD:- In "The Littlest Girl". There is no question but that this is the most satisfactory straight dramatic sketch that has ever come into Vaudeville, and it went as well this afternoon as it ever did, which is saying all that possibly could be said of it.23 Mins .full stg CHARLIE ROSSOW (With Midgets) Character songs: This little fellow is a genuine comedian. He has a pretty fair voice and a considerable dramatic ability, which he infuses into his work. 8 minutes, in one. YHR-THE BAGGESSENS:- Man and woman in a comedy and juggling act, the feature of which is of course, the assumed awkwardness of the man and the breaking of the crockery. They went very strong indeed this afternoon. 18 Minutes; full stage. GRR- GEO. C. DAVIS:- Monologue comedian: This man, when he is in condition, is probably about as satisfying as any monologue performer that we play. He was all right this afternoon, and in a hard place on the bill made a hit. 17 minutes, in one. GHR- HACKER & LESTER:- Two men in a comedy bicycle act, one of them made up as a tramp, the other working straight. They made quite an impression, and it is unquestionably one of the best acts of the kind in the business. 10 minutes; full stage. AR-GOINES & HAZARD:- A couple of colored men in a singing and dancing act. They were put in the place of Brown & Nevarro, who refused to accept my position in the bill, and while they are not as strong as this team could have been it is still a very good act, and they were cordially received. 16 minutes in one. ER- HENDERSON & ROSS:- A man and woman in a rural comedy sketch which introduces some burlesque work on the wire by the man with a little singing by the woman. This is a good useful act in a small place on the bill. 14 minutes; full stage. HR- ED. GRAY:- Monologue. This young fellow walked on long after 5 o'clock when the show was nearly through, and did as nicely as anybody on the bill. I think that he is destined to make one of the best monologue comedians in the business. 13 Minutes in one. GRE- THE LaMOTTS:- Man and woman in a very clever acrobatic act, the woman being full of life and their work is clever and clean-cut throughout. 9 minutes, full stage.
