[page number stamped: 306] CRITICISM OF SHOW KEITH'S THEATRE, PHILA., PA. AUG. 3rd The Gregsons- 12 mins. in one- Man and woman act singing an dancing act after the style of the Gleasons-- and almost as good. Woman is very attractive, and has a fair voice. Could stand for a much better place. A good act. Got a good hand at the close. The Chamberlins- 13 mins. - Landscape in 4- Man and woman, in lasso throwing and rope manipulation; opened this house first week; good sight act for a "small" one. Touhey & Lacy- 15 mins.- Garden in 3- close in one- Two men, enter in auto. Talk is t. Close with bagpipes. May put them up to open the show. They are far from being actors. Gallando- 12 mins. - Gar. in 3- Man, clay modeler, good sight act. Elsie Norman [13?] mins. in one- vocalist and comedienne; attractive personality; a little slow in movement and delivery; has pretty good stuff; made good. Ziska & King - 15 mins.- Gar. in [4?]- Two men, magician and clumsy assistant; a very good act; magician is clever in a "small" way; received a good hand. Frank M. Conly- 15 mins. in one- Soloist- bass- backed by Mr. Jordan for price (RRR) (nothing)- has local drawing power- not good for circuit, except at low figure. Maxsmith Duo- 13 mins. - Landscape in 4- Two men, working on unsupported ladder; a novelty; very good sight act; went very strong. Sisters Meredith- 15 mins. - Open in one- Cut [wood?] in 3- close in one- Two light "coon" girls, in a neat singing and dancing act. Their "Hiawatha" in costume went strong. Made two changes. A good act. Tom [Hawn?] & Co.- 30 mins.- Spec in 3- "Pat and the Genii." Third week in this house. Went as well as ever. They are well known here. Hawn is a favorite, and will always go well. John & Bertha Gleeson- 12 mins. in one- Neatest act of its kind in the varieties. Wooden shoe dancing is especially good. They improve constantly. Should not have been in the same bill as Gregsons. Howard & Bland- 20 ins. - C.D.F. in 3- in their old act "A Strange Way." Howard is always good. Miss Bland's voice is off. The act is a good one, especially Howard's piano work. Went well. Ernest Hogan- 15 mins. in one- Coon shouter; still leads his imitators. He is not as well known here as in New York, but more than makes good. Johnson, Davenport & Lorella- 15 mins.- Landscape in 4. Fastball players and the farmer; seems to run smoother than previously. A good act. Work like lightning. Biograph- 15 mins. in one- Pictures are smaller than Vitagraph; pictures are clearer. Views this week were good. H. A. DANIELS.
