HUDSON THEATRE, UNION HILL, N.J. JOHN C. PEEBLES. Week of March 27, 1911. LUCE & LUCE Classy Instrumentalists. Really too good an act to open the show with as act could go #3 very nicely and make good. Luce and his wife make a nice appearance and their various selections win hearty applause. Act has improved greatly in the past two years and will stack up well with any of the straight musical acts in vaudeville. C.D.Fcy in 3, close in 1, 3 min. Time 13 min. EDDIE REDWAY & GERTRUDE LAWRENCE, "Moonflowers." A pleasing little comedy singing act written by Louis Weslyn. A drop is carried showing the exterior of an apartment house. The talk is bright and the two songs get over in good shape. Will get by in this spot on any program. Own drop in 1 1/2. Time 16 min. WARD & CURRAN, "The Terrible Judge." Have been before the public so long that they must be known to every theatregoer in every part of the land. The same big laughing hit here today that they are everywhere. Pl. chamber in 3, close in 1, 5 min. Time 25 min. HICKEY'S COMEDY CIRCUS. A couple of ponies and two of the best comedy mules I have ever seen with an animal act. This act can follow Berzac anywhere and make more than good. Garden in [6?]. Time 16 min. HERBERT KELCEY & EFFIE SHANNON, in "Music in the Air." This being the first presentation of this act it is a little unfair to pass upon it. Today the act let the show down horribly and the curtain fell with scarcely applause enough to warrant it being taken up a second time. While the story is amusing it seems to be an effort for Kelcey to land his comedy. An accentuated English mannerism does not help him any. Miss Shannon gives the most artistic performance, in fact, her performance is what really saves the act. There is no question that Kelcey and Shannon are very talented people but I am afraid they have not the proper vehicle for vaudeville unless, by some unforeseen chance the act shows material improvement with repeated performances. C.D.Fcy in 3. Time 21 min. MR. & MRS. JACK MC GREEVY, "The Village Fiddler." This act went over in splendid shape this afternoon and scored a big hit. Was a little afraid of it after the report from Providence last week but there is not the slightest question of the act having made good here as it has in New York and other large cities. Own drop in 1. Time 16 min. EIGHT DAHDUH ARABS Sensational Acrobats from the Orient. A rattling closing act and one of the fastest working acts we have ever had in this spot. Garden in 4. Time 7 min. Music Hall Pawtucket R. I. 3 days March 27--28--29 5 Musical Smiths 5 men. Band uniforms. play cornets, classical and popular selections. 15 minutes in one, went very good Ely & Florence Comedy sketch. man and woman.
