C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. APRIL 24, 1911. LANDRY BROS. 12 min. F. S. Two strong men who work each on a single rope stretched from the floor to the flies. Whether working singly or together, their feats are expert and for the most part new to our audience. Vary the act with some strongman posing, a la Sandow, which was not good and was cut out of the act. Closed with the remarkable stunt of one man hanging by the neck while the other is suspended from his feet. This gave the act a good closing hand. STUART & KEELEY. 13 min. in one. Make a fine appearance and do some very good work on the dancing mat. Two changes of costume, including the scarecrow dance, and whether working singly or together, did very well. Fairly strong close. PERCY [WABAM?] & CO. "The Boatswain's Mate." 18 min. F. S. A typical English Music Hall sketch. Good character acting with some situations that got the laugh. Hold the spot O. K. Closed fairly well. INGE & FARRELL. 15 min. in one. These two girls are a decided hit. They make two or three changes of costume each, and whether solo or duet, got a good hand. The finishing song in which one of them takes the boy's part went particularly strong and got them several curtain calls. The applause hit of the show up to this time. STONE & KALISZ. 24 min. F.S. "Mon Amour." Miss Stone makes a very stunning appearance and has a personality that wins from the first. Kalisz has furnished some very catchy music, and decidedly classy and got the audience thoroughly well. Closed strong. Think this act will please our evening audience particularly. [BOWMAN?] BROS. 17 min. in one. Blackface act considerable out of the ordinary. Several changes of costume, including a burlesque on the "harem scarem" skirt. Received good applause throughout and closed with an encore. HUGH HERBERT & CO. 37 min. F. S. This is a sketch far out of the ordinary. The character of the old East Side Jew is admirably drawn. The comedy and pathos are intermixed, and the action is cumulative up to the moving picture part and the strong denouement. Held the interest throughout and closed big. WARD & CURRAN. 24 min. open and close in one. Ward opened in one with a little monologue, then proceeded to his well known "Terrible Judge," which is the same as has been presented here before. Curran introduced some new songs. Act went as well as usual, both being favorites here. SIX ABDALLAHS. 6 min. F. S. A strong acrobatic closer built along the Arab lines of pyramid-building, balancing and whirlwind ground-tumbling. Boys make a good appearance and received liberal applause. Closed strong. KINETOGRAPH. "Indo China." A short but beautiful colored series. GEN. REM. This show played off very well, and the order will be kept as originally scheduled. "The Son of Solomon" will create a good deal of talk, and the Stone sketch ought to draw well with our lower-floor audiences. On the whole, an O. K. bill. CUT HUGH HERBERT & CO. Expression, "What the h--- are you kicking about?" Music Hall Pawtucket R. I. Week of May 1st 1911 First three Days May 1--2--3 Goodhue & Burgess Man and woman, singing, dancing and banjo, well dressed open in two close in one, went very good. 18 minutes. Savoy's Bull Terriers 6 Dogs, two men and a woman, comedy acrobats, dogs very well trained, good act, went big. 10 minutes Leo St Elmo Singing, talking and music, comedy, good musician, 10 minute in one went very good Bertisch Novelty Athlete, swell stage settings, one good act, went big, makes 'em talk 10 minutes David R Buffinton
