FIFTH AVENUE THEATRE REPORT OF SHOW ... May 8th 1911 SEBASTIAN MERRILL AND CO. Wood, full stage. 17 Mins Very good bicycle act, with some thrilling tricks, considerable comedy; opens the show in first class style. HANDERS AND MILLIS Olio in 1 8 Mins These two boys do a very good dancing and piano act. When I saw the piano wheeled on I thought it was going to be another one of those things, but was very agreeably surprised to see they danced well and did a very lively act, of which the piano was only an incidental. This act is good for any house, and I am surprised it has not been seen more. WILFRED CLARKE AND CO. C.D.F. 12 Mins Sketch--"What will happen next."--This sketch got considerable applause and laughter, and while Mr. Clarke is not a great actor and is surrounded by a worse company, the act as usual seemed to get by well. WILLETTE WHITTAKER AND F. WILBUR HALL. 15 Mins Their usual act and went well; although possibly some of Miss Whittaker's new songs are not quite as good as her old ones. BERT LEVY Full stage. 14 Mins His usual act without much new material, but went well. DU CALION 12 Mins The gentlemanly comedian with the ladder. This act was a genuine surprise and went so well that he was moved from No. 1 position to No. 5 after the matinee. This man does all the usual ladder tricks and in addition to this is nice looking, dresses well and has considerable comedy. This act is a genuine bargain and should never lack booking, at anything near its present price. He can work in one or two. EVA TANGUAY In one. 32 Mins Is doing a better act than ever with new costumes and new songs. I was genuinely surprised at the reception she received, and the way the act went, and from indications she will do a big week. $1000 REWARD Special setting, full stage 17 Min This act previously criticised in Sunday's report is making good, but unfortunately is in a very hard position, closing the show. The company is excellent and I consider it one of the best western sketches we have played. It is admirably produced by Henry Miller whose stage management shows to good advantage. DAYLIGHT PICTURE "The Blue Horse Mine."--Very good film, showing Marathon race with a story interwoven. NOTE.--- The show played fine as rearranged after the matinee, and seems to be giving satisfaction to our audiences as the business is continuing excellent. R. E. Irwin M'g'r
