WEEK OF AUGUST 7, 1911. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E. BARNS. ROEDER & LESTER/--Gymnasts. 8 min. F. S. Both man and woman athletes make a fine appearance, and their work on the suspended rings is good and won them several hands. Finished well. An O. K. opener. POPE & DOG 'UNO'--12 min. in 1. An original act in the dog-training line, getting a good deal of laughter from the children. Closed with the bell-ringing feat which is very amusing and won applause. All right in an early spot. FANNIE RICE--"Mimic Miniature Stage.' 16 min. in one-and-a-half. Gave a series of clever caricatures--the Country lass, Baby Girl, Suffragette, etc. The audience seemed very much pleased and gave her good applause. Closed well. CLEMONS & DEAN--"English Entertainers." 13 min. in 1. Exceptionally clever dancing act, with some good songs. Gave a good account of themselves on their first visit. Two changes of costume. Made a fine finish with some of the best eccentric dancing seen here in a long time. THE GRAZERS.--"Terpsichorean Classic." 11 min. F. S. Close in one. A very lively act all the way through, with some dancing surprises and some good instrumental work on the French horn and the cornet. The impersonator with his toe-dance was a hit. Held the spot in great shape. CARROLL & COOKE.--"The Man of the Hour." 15 min. in one. An amusing line of songs and patter delivered in a pleasing manner, although some of it had to be expurgated. Well received all right and closed well. CHARLES RICHMAN & COMPANY.--"The Fire Escape." 14 min. F.S A mighty good sketch something on the lines of "The Order of the Bath," with plenty of life and ginger, getting laughs all the way through. Held the crowd throughout and closed strong after the unexpected finish. A comedy classic. TRIXIE FRIGANZA/--Comedienne. Big advance applause. Makes a stunning appearance in two changes of costume. Excellent material put over in her characteristic style. Will be a favorite with our evening audiences. Thoroughly satisfactory headliner. 18 min. in one. BOUNDING GORDONS.-- Tramplin act. 9 min. F.S. Young men present their act well, dressing becomingly and working skilfully and sometimes daringly, leaping clean across the stage from the high pedestal and the bounding mat. Difficult and dangerous work that the crowd liked and applauded well. A fine closer. KINETOGRAPH.--Hippo Hunt in Africa. Short but very interesting. WINTER SPORTS IN LUCERNE. Beautifully photographed. GENERAL REMARKS.-- A good little summer show which pleases. Unfortunately all the acts, including Richman, fell short as regards time which makes an unusually early show and necessitated the addition of the following;-- THE MUSICAL MAC LARENS.--A local instrumental act. Five people. Second appearance here and went well.--even better than before. Just what was needed in this spot to wake up the house. Scheduled No. 3, between Pope and Dog and Clemons & Dean. 13 min.
