C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. AUG. 21, 1911. GREY & PETERS. 9 min. F. S. Two men, one working straight, the other clown comedy. The comedy is fair, the bicycle work of the regulation order with some new and good feats that received applause. Makes a good opener. Closed well. RAY & ROGERS. 17 min. in one. Both work in conventional costume. Have some good songs that they put over very well. Some fairly good conversation. Received some scattered applause and closed well with their "Rube" dancing stunt. All right for a small spot. WILLIAMS & WARNER. 14 min. open in one, close F. S. Both men work eccentric. Play all kinds of instruments - violin, cornet, musical pipes, saxophone, including a lot of freak instruments that are very amusing. Got by fairly well in this position in the afternoon, and at night far better. An amusing act for the children. WITT'S MELODY LAKE GIRLS. 14 min. in one. Four pretty girls, all of them with exceptionally fine voices, well trained. Sang four selections, each one well chosen and received plenty of applause. Closed well. POUCHOT'S FLYING BALLET. 10 min. F.S. A beautiful feature made familiar to our audiences by Grigoletti, but in some respects not as strong. The afternoon show fell short on account of the poor lighting effects, and the act was only received moderately. At the night show, however, the whole lighting scheme was changed and consequently the act made quite a hit, closing strong with the flight of doves. ED. MORTON. 13 min. in one. Morton is a favorite here. His friends were much in evidence today and combined to swell the applause for some very good songs well delivered. Was compelled to give his famous "Bear and Preacher" encore and closed strong. ROSS & FENTON. 20 min. F. S. Advance applause for both, as they have not appeared in Vaudeville for ten years and have a great many friends in Philadelphia. The play is well acted with strong lines in parts, and considerable comedy. The climax is popular and on the whole the play made a very good impression and should prove a winner. Closed to a fine hand. The newspapers gave them a good send off. BERNARD & WESTON. 21 min. in one. Bernard certainly proved himself a popular and capable soloist and accompanist today from an all around standpoint, and his partner gives dialect and character songs in a very acceptable manner. Each selection received good applause. Held this hard spot in good shape and closed strong. FLYING MARTINS. 6 min. F. S. A hurricane trapeze act, very artistic and daring. Act is short but they make it up in hard work and a couple of thrillers. All right to close the show. KINETOGRAPH. "Ancient and Modern London." Very interesting. "Boys Will Be Boys." A good kid film without anything offensive in the comedy. GEN. REM. A fair Summer show in the first half and very good in the latter half from the Melody Lane Girls on. The Ross & Fenton comedy will be especially taking with our evening audiences, as it is a play for grown-ups and well presented, and Bernard & Weston were a hit. The schedule of the show will remain the same. Bijou Theatre, Pawtucket, R. I. Week of Aug 21 August 21, 22, 23. VALERIE SISTERS, Singing and Dancing. THE APOLLOS, 20th. Century Athletes. HELEN RICHARDS, Novelty Wire Act. August 24, 25, 26. THE ROY'S, Singing and Dancing. McNAMEE, Clay Modeler. DAWSON & BOOTH, Roller Skating.
