HUDSON THEATRE, UNION HILL, N.J. JOHN C. PEEBLES. Week of October 23, 1911. DEAS, REED & DEAS, Some Singers, Some Dancers, Some Clothes. Two colored men and a colored woman in a lively singing, talking and dancing specialty which started the show off to good applause. Act is clean, refined and could go much further down on any bill and more than make good. Own drops in 1 and 1 1/2. Time 19 min. GEORGE SPINK & PAULINE WELCH, Refined singing specialty. One of the biggest applause hits of the bill. Spink's work is well known. In his present act he has a feature that will be an acquisition to any program. Miss Welch has a personality that gets over in great shape and they have a splendid routine of songs. There is some talk in the act which might be eliminated to the further improvement of the act itself. Spink, I understand, has a new wardrobe which has not yet been delivered to him. This will greatly improve the appearance. Olio drop in 1, with piano. Time 17 min. W.B. PATTON & CO., "Apple Blossoms." A pretty rural comedy sketch which held this spot in good shape, got plenty of laughs and a good hand at the finish. Own set in 3. Time 15 min. COL. SAM HOLDSWORTH, World's oldest tenor. This act proved a pleasing feature of today's bill. We have billed him strong all over this section and when he made his entrance he received a hearty reception. It is really marvelous to hear this old man sing and there is no question in my mind that he will create talk. Olio in 1. Time 11 min. J. WARREN KEANE, assisted by Grace White, pianist. Keane is certainly a clever entertainer and his various sleight of hand tricks kept the audience thoroughly interested. He is a wonder at palming and he had the audience mystified. A classy act for any bill. Own plush drapery in 2, close in 1, 5 min. Time 19 min. THE GREAT SUGGESTION. This is the dramatic sketch which created so much talk during the recent Friars' frolic. It is offered by Joseph Hart with Earle Brown and a company of 9, the scene being laid in the lounge room at the Friary. The story deals with mental suggestion and the interest is intense all the way through and the curtain falls on a comedy situation. Joe Hart has given us a dramatic novelty that should be a hit on any bill as there is no question that the act will create comment wherever it is done. The act is finely played and superbly staged. Special set in 3. Time 17 min. JACK WILSON TRIO. Just the same big hit here as elsewhere. The audience could not seem to get enough of them. Own drop in 1. Time 20 min. "SLIVERS" OAKLEY, the Hippodrome clown. Working alone and doing his baseball pantomime. This afternoon he left the stage to make a change in the middle of the act which let the action down. I suggested that he make his change on the stage and he is to do this the rest of the week. Would be more desirable in the middle of the bill but managed to hold them in and keep them laughing, some accomplishment following Jack Wilson. Own cyco. drop in 4. Time 17 min. "The best show of the season" seems to be the verdict heard as the people went out today.
