HUDSON THEATRE, UNION HILL, N.J. JOHN C. PEEBLES. Week of October 30, 1911. BANKS-BREAZEALE DUO, the Daintiest of Musical Acts. Two attractive looking girls in a pretty musical act. Rather a quiet opening number but seemed to interest the audience. Would do nicely #2 on any bill. Own set in 2, close in 1, 4 min. Time 13 min. STANLEY & ELLA WARNER, Juvenile Entertainers. Nice appearing young couple in a medley of songs, piano and dance on the order of Al & Fanny Steadman. The act was slightly handicapped this afternoon because the Temple Quartet paid first claim to their principal song, having rehearsed it first and Warner was obliged to substitute an old song. Act went very well with audience and took several bows. Olio in 1, with piano. Time 11 min. HALL MC ALLISTER & CO., in "The Girl of the Times." Act seemed to drag this afternoon and the audience grew rather fidgety before the climax was reached. The woman in the act strikes me as being rather amateurish and plays too much to the audience. Toward the finish the action quickened materially and closed to good applause. Fcy in 3. Time 17 min. Ida-RUSSELL & CHURCH-Grace Eloise. "From Society to the Bowery." Two women in a comedy singing and talking act which possesses some bright material and held this spot in good shape. Olio in 1. Time 15 min. TEMPLE QUARTET. Act too well and favorably known to need further praise. All of their numbers went over big today. Olio in 1. Time 13 min. ALEKO & ALETHEIA, Grecian telepathists. This act seemed to create a lot of talk among the people as they left the theatre today. Some of the "wise" Monday bunch tried to pull some of their "comedy" but Aletheia had them guessing by calling out their names and answering their "thought-of" questions. Aletheia does not use writing pads and, so far as I can discover, there is no communication between herself and Aleko, the latter working in the audience. The questions are whispered to Aleko and immediately, Aletheia, from her position on the stage, calls the person's name, tells them of what they are thinking and answers their question. With almost anything against me this week with the exception of a harbor full of war vessels and the entire state of New Jersey lined along the Palisades there is no question that this act would draw me an Eva Fay week. However, I am hoping the Greeks will prove a stronger magnet than the navy. Own set in 3. Time 20 min. CLIFF GORDON, "The German Senator." His first appearance here and he had the audience fairly falling off their seats. Street in 1. Time 15 min. THE WHEELERS, "Fun on the Boulevard." While this act closed the show in excellent shape it really ought to be in the middle of the program to get the full benefit of the act. Wheeler has a whole stage full of trick "props" which got many a laugh. He does just a little juggling but the greater part of his act is devoted to the trick stuff. Good value for any manager. Own drop in 4. Time 9 min. First half of bill is very weak in comedy features but the latter half makes up for it. Tonight shifted the positions of Aletheia and the Temple Quartet.
