69 Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of November 4, 1912. CHAS. LOVENBERG, Manager. The bill doesn't live up to the excellent program we had last week and is hardly in line with the shows we have given, as a whole, this season. CHAS. & ADA LATHAM In a little sketch called "Nobody's Kid;" the kid being a character similar to that of Fanny Usher, but not nearly so well played. Am sorry to say that the act as whole is hardly fitted for the big time houses. 20 Min. F. S. ART BOWEN Singing cartoonist, who repeated his usual success. 10 Min. in One. THE BEHRENS Musical act and female impersonations; both clever performers and the surprise made a very big hit. 13 Min. F. S. KENNY, NOBODY & PLATT Black-face comedians and singers; an act that did very well, but not as well as I had hoped for. There was no insistent demand for their return at the finish of their performance. 12 Min. in One. Jesse Lasky's "IN THE BARRACKS" This operetta, reconstructed, was given its first performance in its new form at this house this afternoon; the first showing was rather shaky and didn't get over very well, but it was surprising how much better it went at the night performance, after a two hours' rehearsal, following the matinee. The story is a good one; the music is quite attractive and the lyrics are good; scenery and costumes in Lasky's best style; comedy gets over in good shape and the parts, with the exception of the principal man and woman, are well played. these two seem to fall short, both in acting and singing, but they are by no means bad, but when one considers how much more could be done with the music, it seems a pity not to have the best. Lasky realizes this and says that he is going to change them as soon as possibly. I don't believe, however, that anyone needs to fear to play the act. Our very conservative Providence paper - "The Journal" - gave them a very good notice this morning. 35 Min. F. S. ROONEY & BENT Too well-known to require reviewing. Went as big as usual. 16 Min. F. S. DON FULANO An especially well trained horse. Pleased. 15 Min. MOTION PICTURES O. K.
