94 C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. NOV. 18, 1912. SAYTON TRIO. 10 min. F.S. This act makes a fine opener. Two men work in "alligator" make-up and do contortion work very skillfully, assisted by a Daschund [Dachshund] dog well trained as the baby alligator. Scene set very effective. Two men afterwards appear straight and do some excellent work on the table. Scattered applause throughout and closed well. Could hold a better spot with credit. MCMAHON, DIAMOND & CLEMENCE. 14 min. in one. This is a novel act. The young girl who does the part of the scarecrow is very clever. The young man who does the eccentric dancing gets a good hand for his work. Could hold a better spot on the bill. Closed very well. HENSHAW & AVERY. 25 min. F.S. A very lively and amusing act. Good songs well put over and an original line of patter that got the crowd and won laughter and applause. Closed very well. THREE LYRES. 21 min. in one. Two men work straight, one blackface comedy. Play various instruments very well and have an entertaining line of talk. Held this spot very acceptably and made a good close. JULIUS STEGER & CO. "Justice." 20 min. F.S. A highly melodramatic sketch in Mr. Steger's own style, forcible presented and well received. Mr. Steger has a good supporting case and the good reports we have had on the act were justified. The audience gave it rapt attention with occasional applause and a strong finish. WATSON & SANTOS. 15 min. in one. A very pretty woman and a capable comedian who know how to put over a catchy love song in great style. Held the spot in fine shape. Two changes of costume and finished big. "THE APPLE OF PARIS." 18 min. F.S. A typical French pantomime ballet with Mlle. Amato doing the star part with great vivacity and charm. She is well supported and the act held the interest of the audience up to the tragic climax. Close was good but not over-enthusiastic. JOHN J. MCGRAW. 11 min. in ome. Advance applause. Makes a very unassuming but forcible presentation of his stories and experiences play8ing fair with everybody and throwing a lot of compliments. Stories got laughter and applause and his finish was fairly strong. Evidently lots of baseball fans in the house, as the will be for the balance of the week. SEBASTIAN MERRILL & CO. 12 min. F.S. Makes a typical closing feature, expert and thoroughly amusing. Held the audience in right to the finish. Closed strong. KINETOGRAPH. An interesting travel film with comedy finish. GENERAL REMARKS. This show played off strong all the way through with plenty of comedy in the first part of the show and held the crowd in to the close.
