122 REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW, WEEK DEC. 9, 1912--W.W. PROSSER. OLLIE YOUNG & APRIL: Man and woman in "The Act From Toyland". Soap bubbles, boomerang throwing, diablo work. Excellent novelty act. Made very favorable impression all the way through. Good finish. Garden in 5, 11 minutes. (Scranton, Pa.) ADLER & ARLINE: Man and woman, offering "A New Idea". Woman appeared at opening and makes announcement of absence of partner, also that she will demonstrate hypnotism. Call for subjects, two of which are "plants", the other, the male member of the team. The act evolves into a very clever "imitation" offering, consisting of work, a la Harry Gilfoil. Held attention throughout, gaining liberal laughter and scoring a strong finish. Olio in 1, 16 min. (Toledo) CROUCH & WELCH: Young man and woman in acrobatic dancing and comedy. Made good and finished strong. Fancy in 2 1/2, street in 1, 13 min. (Louisville) AUSTRALIAN WOODCHOPPERS: Two men in exhibition of rapid sawyer and chopper ability. Introductory motion picture of lumbering in Australia. The act proved a genuine novelty, holding close attention throughout and finishing strong. Special in 4, 15 min. (Syracuse) PROF. OTA GYGI: The "Court Violinist to The King of Spain". An accomplished violinist who omits all didos, but who plays the violin in a masterful manner. He renders very difficult numbers with the greatest ease. He acquired the attention at the very beginning of his act and held it to the finish, strictly on his merit. Finished strong, taking several bows. Olio in 1, 13 min. (Toledo) NIGHT IN A TURKISH BATH: Well-known episode which gave satisfaction throughout. Went well all the way through and finished strong. Special in 4, 26 minutes. (New York) WELLINGTON CROSS & LOIS JOSEPHINE: Man and woman, singing, dancing, comedy and burlesque. A clever team and the hit of the show. Very strong finish. Landscape in 1, 21 minutes. (Toledo) CARL EMMY'S PETS: A fine troupe of fox terriers. Novel tricks, capably presented. Very classy in all respects. Applause throughout and strong finish. Special in 5, 14 minutes. (Louisville) PATHE WEEKLY: O.K.
