130 B. F. KEITH'S HIPPODROME Week of Dec. 16th, 1912 Cleveland, Ohio MARLOWE TRIO - - Two men and one woman. 8 minutes in 3. Comedy Bar Act. Very acceptable in this position. (Newark) BILLY McDERMOTT ) - Tramp Comedian. 18 minutes in one. Makes one think of Nat Wills. He does not use Wills' stuff, but has some good stuff of his own. I think he could go down as far as number five or six and make good. The audience was immensely pleased with his imitation of Sousa. (Springfield, Mass) DETECTIVE KEEN - - With Arthur Hoops. Four men and one woman, 20 minutes, C.D.F. I was led to believe that I had to work my head off about Daniel Frohman in order to make this sketch go. Want to say that the sketch has enough merit with the cast that is presenting it here in Cleveland this week, to go most anywhere on any bill. The act is full of surprises and Cleveland audiences will like it and talk about it. (Baltimore) McKAY & CANTWELL - - Singing and Talking. 24 minutes in one, with special drop. Two local boys who are always going to pack the Hippodrome every time they get booked in Cleveland. They made good in a way, but I doubt if they could go much further down on the bill. They had a number of friends in the audience both Monday afternoon and evening, but we did not have to stand anybody up at either performance. The act is good value for the money, but never can cause a riot or create any unusual disturbance. (Syracuse) WILLIS FAMILY - - Two brothers, two sisters. 13 minutes in 4. Corking good musical act. Shifted it on the night show with Detective Keen. The show seemed to run better this way. Solo work is excellent and the act makes good. (Toledo) McINTYRE & HEATH - - "The Georgia Minstrels". About 40 minutes. Comment unnecessary. They always go well and generally draw the patronage. Open in one, with special drop. Go to full stage, exterior. (Cincinnati) FRED WATSON & RENA SANTOS - - 17 minutes in one. Singing and dancing. Have a vague idea that this is Sam's brothers. The girl has an excellent voice and can reach the high notes about as well as anyone we have had lately. Good act. Will hold this spot the rest of the week. (Dayton) TOM DAVIES TRIO - - "Motoring in Mid-Air". Two men and one woman. One of those picket fence bicycle acts that broke the record of the old Bijou Theatre in Philadelphia, fifteen years ago. Joe Dougherty remembers when this act was a novelty. I guess a lot of Clevelanders do too because half the audience got up and walked on it. However, the show was very long and these people did not go on much before eleven at night. (Columbus) H. A. Daniels
