216 C. E. BARNS PHILADELPHIA SHOW. FEB. 10, 1913. ARCHI ONRI. 13 min. A good little opening act that just about got by in this position. Has one or two comedy novelties and his work with the devilsticks is quite good. WILLIAMS, THOMPSON & COPELAND. 12 min. open in one, closes full stage. This is a burglar sketch on the old [] lines and gets laughs all the way through. Held this spot in fair shape and closed well. VAN & SCHENCK. 14 min. in one. Advance applause. these two boys are certainly good entertainers, both of them having excellent voices, one of them being an expert pianist and both of them know how to put over a song in good shape, whether straight, coon dialect, Italian, Yiddish or otherwise. Went strong in this spot and compelled to give an encore. MABELLE ADAMS & CO. "Zila." 19 min., open Full Stage, goes to one, back to Full Stage. This little romantic drama is very beautifully presented and Miss Adams has excellent support. It gives her a chance to show her abilities as an actress as well as a violiniste and the Parisian Bohemian atmosphere is well counterfeited. Held the interest very well and made a good close. BESSIE WYNN. 24 min. in one. Miss Wynn sang six songs with as many changes of costume and each of them got a strong hand. Compelled to give two encores and closed with the Faust number. Made a big hit with a plant in the balcony box. Better than ever before. AUSTRALIAN WOODCHOPPERS. 13 min. F.S. Interested the audience right from the first and every one of their stunts got a big hand, making a smashing big finish with their tree-felling contest. Will close the show for the balance of the week. JOHN E. HAZZARD. 16 min. in one. Has a very amusing line of stories which he gets over mighty well. Laughter and applause after each one and proved himself a favorite, as he has done before. Held this difficult spot very acceptably and made a fine close. "A PERSIAN GARDEN." 40 min. Same as presented here before, only more picturesque and finished than ever. Simon is certainly the big laugh and transposing the act, as it will be tonight, the audience will get all the good out of it, for it is worthy of all praise as a vaudeville feature. KINETOGRAPH. "Weary Starts Things in Pumpkinville." One of the funniest comedy films we have had in a long time. GENERAL REMARKS. There is plenty of material in this show to please the most exacting patron, and though it went very well this afternoon, more value can be gotten out of it by transposing "A Persian Garden" up the bill, where it rightfully belongs, and substituting the Woodchoppers as a closer, with Miss Wynn next to closing. The show for the balance of the week will run as follows:- A Overture B Archi Onri C Williams, Thompson & C. D Van & Schenck E Mabelle Adams F John E. Hazzard G "A Persian Garden" H Bessie Wynn I Australian Woodchoppers J Kinetograph K EXIT MARCH
