CRITICISM. FIFTH AVENUE THEATRE, NEW YORK CITY. WEEK OF MARCH 11th, 1912. BERTISH: Offered rather a pretentious number in a weight lifting and posing exhibition. Splendid opener and deserves a better place on the bill. Ten minutes full stage. FIELD BROTHERS: Working in black face, wearing semi-mexican costume, with a little singing and very good dancing at the price, a good act for an early place. 8 minutes in one. MR. CHARLES LEONARD FLETCHER & CO: in "His Nerve". Compelled to move this man from fifth to third position. Understand he is going to store the production. Full stage 20 minutes. MARSHALL MONTGOMERY: Scored the usual number of laughs and received a round hand at the finish. 13 minutes in one. THE FLYING MARTINS: have all other trapeze acts beaten a mile, they are on their way home, while the others are still posing. The time of act is only five minutes, but it is equal to twelve compared to others. Full stage, 5 minutes. GERTRUDE BARNES: Presents a novel singing number, using a magnificent plush drop as a backing. Each number is unique in itself, especially in the manner in which it is offered, as some special effect is introduced in every song, with a stunning gown for every selection. The songs are all catchy and the act in its entirety, pleases. 20 minutes in one. ASHLEY & LEE: Brought the first big laugh in the show. 19 minutes in one. KITAMURA JAPS: Well known, very good. Full stage, 14 minutes. CESAR NESI: A great tenor. Sings three numbers in Italian and with an encore in English. Applause hit of the show at every performance. 12 minutes in one. PAULINE: In a series of scientific demonstrations of hypnotic suggestions. The fun elements of the act diversified it greatly and there was the keenest interest in the experiments and their outcome, particularly the blood control. Full stage 37 minutes.
