20 SCENIC TEMPLE Vaudeville and Motion Pictures EXEC. OFFICE: UNION THEATRE UNION STREET PROVIDENCE, RHODE ILSAND MAIN STREET PHONE PAWTUCKET 356 Pawtucket, R.I., report on acts playing The Scenic Temple, week of November 24, 1913 Reported by C L McNally 1 Lew and Mollie Hunting. Work in full stage, singing, talking, and dancing, with a very slight plot running through the act - 17 minutes - Fair 2 Speigel and Dunn 2 men, blackface ordinarily, but gave a good show working straight, as a result of the fact that their trunks had not arrived - Good dancers - At night did regular act, blackface, songs, parodies, dancing, one man impersonating woman, using good falsetto voice -- Good act, and well received - 14 3 Boyle and DeBecker Protean novelty - with a very good plat - Man and woman, characters of man are Old gentleman, young man, Butler, French Count, and policeman - Woman's characters are Young Lady and maid Full stage, special set - Very good act 17 4 Frank Tierney and Marie Sabbott Singing, talking, and dancing act - Closed after matinee performance, as a result of the fact that they deliberately walked off the stage in the middle of their act, without good cause, and did so in a very ungentlemanly and unladylike manner. Steinert Trio Three men in a comedy bar act took the place of the act that was cancelled - Very GOOD - one man works straight, and two do comedy - 12 minutes in full stage Acts - November 27, 28, 29, 1913 - Seen by C. L McNally - Reported from his notes - Scenic Temple, Pawtucket, R I Goldie and Clark Two men, "The Cabaret Boys" Work in dress suits, and give an imitation of cabaret performers - syncopated songs, very good soft show dancing, etc A good act, and pleased the large audience The Metropolitan Minstrels Five girls, and two boys, who work in blackface - A singing, talking, comedy, and dancing act, somewhat after the procedure of a minstrel show - The act opens in two, goes to one for the song "Gee But You're Hard To Get Along With", and then closes in full stage, C D F, with the song and comedy business by all, entitled "I'm Afraid Of The Great Big Moon" - This act is not so good as it was before Ray Dooley left it, and although the audience was immense, the act just got by, and that is all - This act has a great need of new material, as the talent is not bad, the girls having good voices, and the boys being good comedians, but the act as it now stands is very much overpaid- Sam Barton Full stage - Bicycle act, into which there is introduced some very good comedy, such as the complete falling to pieces of the bicycle, and the comedy business of getting to together again - The man wears shoes in which there are small concealed rollers, and which enables him to make some very funny slides across the stage - 15 minutes - A good act, and was very well received Smith and Farmer Man and woman - work in one - 15 minutes - The woman's specialty is singing, which she does very well, and the man is a very good nut comedian, springing many funny jokes - Although this act has played here before, and despite the fact that Pawtucket as a rule does not like to see the same act twice, this act went very good - Act closes in with the man playing a cornet, and the woman singing the same selection - The woman wears some pretty gowns, and on the whole,t he act is a very pleasing offering, and is equal, if not superior in strength to any on the bill
