Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of December 1, 1913. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. We have an exceptionally good bill this week; everything on it scored, although the "Red Heads" didn't seem to go as well as it has in other cities; it seemed a little disappointing; closed the show with them in the afternoon and that may have made it harder for them; moving them up at the night performance. TWO TOM BOYS Two girls, doing a Rice & Prevost act, made up as a couple of school girls, doing all the falls and things of that kind; of course, nothing like the work that has been presented by many men in that line, but quite good considering it is a couple of women, although their comedy is strained. I think, also, they are paid at least $50 too much. 8 Min. F. S. CUMMINGS & GLADYINGS This is a very good little act; quite a surprise in fact; the woman is particularly clever and is one of the best high kickers we ever had in the house. 10 Min. in One. "JUST HALF WAY" A most delightful sketch, excellently played, particularly by the man, who is one of the best light comedians I have seen in many a day. An act that could score anywhere. 22 Min. F. S. Lasky's "RED HEADS" I must confess that in view of all the glowing things that have been said of this act, that I am somewhat disappointed in it. I don't think it compares with the "Trained Nurses" for life, music, and while the comedy is probably better, the personality of the principals in the "Trained Nurses"' act is a great deal stronger than that of the principals in this. The costumes are not nearly what I expected and the scenery is, of course, only ordinary, there not being much opportunity for scenic display. There was no enthusiasm shown by the audience, and I felt obliged to move it from the closing spot up to third from the finish. I am hoping it will go better with the night show. 49 Min. F. S. CLARK & VERDI This act made the big laughing hit of the show, as it deserved. A good novelty, well presented. 15 Min. in 1. 3 MORI BROS. Moved from No. 3 down to this spot. I am afraid we are going to kill their act, but I feel that it is better to do that than to sacrifice our big headliner. In an earlier spot, the Mori Bros. were a big hit. 13 Min. F.S. MOTION PICTURES O. K. NOTE: - The "Red Heads" went much better last night in the easier spot, although I still am not convinced that it is nearly as good as the "Trained Nurses." The Mori Bros. held their place; closed the show all right; very few people left the theatre, and they made a hit.
