REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW, WEEK DECEMBER 1, 1913 W.W. PROSSER. GORDON & RICA: Novelty cycling act. Very good of its kind. They introduce songs and dances in addition to their riding. The act went well throughout finishing strong. F.S. [15?] minutes. (Pittsburgh) WILLIAMS & WOLFORD: Man and woman. Comedy pianist and soprano. This proved a good laughing number, although at times it was somewhat tiresome and long-drawn out. All in all, they thoroughly made good, The final straight place number rounded out a good strong finish. Olio in 1, 20 minutes. (Toledo) MRS. GENE HUGHES & CO: In her wellknown comedy playlet, "Youth". The act proved attractive all the way through, holding attention, securing plenty of laughter and finished very strong. Four or five curtains. C.D.F. in 3, 29 minutes. (Toledo) ASHLEY & CANFIELD: One of the old team of Matthews and Ashley, with a new partner. Talk and songs with parodies [thereon?]. About the same line Ashley has done for years. They found it rather difficult during the early part of their act, but fought their way along and finally caught on in great shape, and finished strong. Street in 1, 15 minutes. (New York) NINE WHITE HUSSARS: Classy nine-man act of instrumental and vocal work. Their white uniforms against the special black drapery, gives this number abundant style. Their playing is excellent with sufficient variety in selections and plenty of ginger. this act caught on from the very beginning and went big throughout, finishing strong. Special in 2 1/2, 18 minutes. (Chicago) EVA SHIRLEY: "Youngest Prima Donna." This young lady got along quite well, in view of the fact that her voice is metallic and not especially pleasing. She managed to put her songs over, however, quite acceptably, doing pretty well throughout and finishing moderately strong. Olio in 1, 11 min. (Toledo) HERZOG'S HORSES: This wellknown act proved thoroughly satisfactory as a closer, holding all but a few until the finish which was strong. Garden in 5, 14 minutes. (Grand Rapids) MOTION PICTURE: O.K. Note:- Eva Shirley was scheduled for No. 2, but was placed next to closing owing to baggage delay. she will take her proper position tonight.
