B. F. KEITH'S THEATRE, CINCINNATI, OHIO. Week of Dec. 14th, 1913. John F. Royal. GORDON & RICA 13 min. F.S. Garden. Man and woman in a very clever singing and bicycle act presented in a very novel manner. They can't sing so much, but it is a very essential part of their routine. The boy does some good trick bicycle riding, and the act closes exceptionally strong for an opening act. INDIANAPOLIS. ETHEL MAE BARKER 15 min. in One. Olio. Pretty little girl in refined violin offering. Miss Barker confined herself entirely to classical numbers, eliminating "Rag" altogether, and, though in an early spot, went over in good shape. Very pleasing act, and she secured a good closing. INDIANAPOLIS. BERNARD REINOLD AND COMPANY 31 min. F.S. Special. Two men and two women German domestic comedy sketch entitled "How Hofmeister Did It". This sketch was just made for Cincinnati with its big German element. The audience were laughing from curtain to curtain, because they were quick to get Mr. Reinold's real German, and it was one of the big hits of the bill. A great closing. COLUMBUS. BORDEN AND SHANNON 15 min. in One. Olio. Man and woman in singing, dancing, talking and a little piano. This couple went over in good shape, as they have a rough line of comedy that appeals to our people here. They work very fast and don't do much of anything, but their breezyness puts them over. The man in the act is rather a good dancer. They went very strong at the Sunday night show. DETROIT. KATHLEEN CLIFFORD 12 min. in Two. Special. Miss Clifford is very popular here as was evidenced by her reception. She opened in a very pretty number as a girl, and then changes, with the aid of her silhouette curtain, to three boys' costumes. Miss Clifford is a very clever artist. All her numbers were interesting and well received, and she closed very strong. COLUMBUS. MISS ORFORD'S ELEPHANTS 17 Min. F.S. special and Garden. This act was positively a sensation. Went very big, and will be the talk of the town. LOUISVILLE. BERT WILLIAMS 23 min. in One. Street. It is useless to describe Mr. Williams as he simply walked away with everything. He opened with a story, went into a song and from the first syllable out of his mouth until he closed, he had the audience laughing, and when they were not laughing they were applauding. He used a little of his old material from productions, and a lot of new stuff, but by Wednesday he will have all new material. Following his "Tango" song, he does a pantomimic "Tango" dance by himself, that is a scream, and this will probably be good food for his imitators. This is a very strong southern town, and our gallery looked liked a thunderstorm. NEW YORK. FIVE IDANIAS 13 min. F.S. Pal. Five women in a wonderful athletic act, which is positively the best act of its kind for an all-woman act seen here for some time. Made a good closing act for the best bill seen here this season. INDIANAPOLIS. LOCAL PICTURES Very good. NOTES Borden and Shannon did not arrive until four o'clock Sunday Matinee and their trunks were lost. They went on in their street clothes after the rest of the show was finished, and on a bare stage they rehearsed their act as though the audience wer'nt in. With improvised material and the aid of the stage hands and the other artists on the bill, who were not wise to what was going on, the most unique feature ever seen in this city was put over. The audience screamed with laughter, and the act ran 35 minutes. Instead of being minus an act, we had something quite out of the ordinary, and Borden and Shannon deserve a great deal of credit for their nerve.
