Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of Dec. 29, 1913. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. We have a pretty good bill this week, although I don't think it compares very well with those of the last three weeks. while there is considerable novelty, I don't think there is much in the way of drawing power. McRAE & CLEGG A very attractive woman and a good comedian who did some bicycle tricks that are unusual; a lively act that got considerable applause and laughter. 8 Min. F. S. CABARET TRIO A rathskeller act that is pretty well known, having played in mot of the houses; went very well in this spot. 13 Min. in One. LILY LONG A very tall eccentric English comedienne, who managed to get by. Miss Long's work is decidedly English and she should have had some help in localizing her work for American audiences before she was permitted to appear. She has some ability and her lanky appearance gets quite a few laughs. In No. 2 spot at not more than $150, I would say that it was acceptable. At $300, she is a most decided luxury. 13 Min. in One. ALBERT PERRY & CO. In a comedy sketch called "To Reno and Return." Mr. Perry is a good actor and the woman of his company is also clever; the other man is impossible. The sketch is something of a novelty, but it is too talky and drags considerably in spots. 17 Min. F. S. ED MORTON Well-known singer of comic songs, who had a lot of new material, most of it good. 15 Min. in One. MERCEDES and Mlle. Stantone In a musical thought transference act. This is another twist given to the second sight business and is very well done indeed. I think that people are going to comment upon it, but I don't believe that it has the interest, even after one is told about the marvelous work, to draw people in anything like large numbers. The only chance we have is to get some good advertising out of it. We have an appointment with the Mayor and some newspaper men Tuesday morning and probably will get up enough interest in that way to draw a little business. The act itself was rather tedious, being such a repetition of the same thing, although the music in itself is different. 26 Min. F. S. MR. & MRS. JIMMY BARRY Same act presented last season which went very well indeed. 22 Min. in One. PRINCE EMIL'S POLAR BEARS This is a very good act indeed, but I am quite sure that many of the timid women and a great many children of the audience were considerably frightened, especially by the wrestling when it looked at times the bear was going to bite the man. I have about made up my mind that this will be the last act of the kind that I will play. We have had bad luck with all the leopards, lions and things of that kind that we have played. I mean bad luck inasmuch as the better the act is the less likely the public are to attend because of the fear of something happening. 12 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O. K.
