REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW WEEK JAN. 19..W.W. Prosser. MLLE. TINA: Woman trapeze artist. Good act of its kind but nothing extraordinary. Served alright as an opener. Finished fairly strong. Garden in 4, 7 min. (Cincinnati) JAS. TOONY & ANTOINETTE NORMAN: Man and woman in talk, songs and dances. Clever pair whose act is out of the beaten path. Got plenty of laughter and liberal applause. Strong finish. Olio in 1, 14 min. (Louisville) HALE & PATTERSON: Argentine Tangoists, introducing the dances which have set the American public nutty. this act is very apropos at this time owing to the prevailing rage of the tango. Held attention throughout, winning applause and finishing strong. Palace in 4, 7 min. (Indianapolis) NEIL McKINLEY: Singing comedian. Songs and talk which he puts over in a very acceptable manner. Plenty of noise, the act being decidedly of the "whoop-'em-up-and-holler" variety. Finished strong. Olio in 1, 14 min. (Cleveland) VALERIE BERGERE AND COMPANY: Two men, three women in "A Bowery Camille". A story of the love affair between an artist of the high-brow type and a model of low extraction. A very good playlet presented in the manner which is typical of Miss Bergere's careful and conscientious work. She was given a generous reception on her appearance and had no difficulty in holding their undivided attention from curtain to curtain. Her personal success was most emphatic, and that of her company, all that could be desired. Finished strong. Special in 4, 22 minutes. (Indianapolis) OLGA PETROVA: The same excellent artist as before. A reception on her entrance. Careful attention throughout. Lack of applause, but thorough interest, demonstrating that she had them with her all the time. Finished strong with quite a number of bows. Olio in 1, 18 min. (Philadelphia) WELCH, MEALY & BELL: Two of the old and one of the new Welch, Mealy and Montrose Trio. Notwithstanding Welch's prior-to-the-opening statement to the effect that he had an entirely new act, it proved to be the same old material delivered in the same old way. Fairly good as a laugh-getter but not a successful closer. A goodly portion of the house left in the middle of the act. Fair finish. Garden in 2, 16 min. (Grand Rapids) PATHE WEEKLY: O.K.
